Compromising on what t.v. show to watch (we have only on cable hook wire in our apartment). Dh always, watches what he wants. Changing dh's spending habits has been tough too, thank you bluesashbride.

Re: Whats the hardest part of being married?
Changing my spending habits has been tough, but I think the compromise of time between our two families, two sets of friends, alone time (gotta have some!) and just us mixed in with work, chores, and trying to have some fun is the hardest. But it keeps getting easier little by little to coordinate and work together in planning.

I was going to say the same thing! Compromising in terms of where and who we spend time with has been hard. We both are very close to our families and everyone lives nearby so its not always easy to mix it up evenly. We're also learning to limit our spending so we can buy a house sometime soon.
Sharing the TV can get annoying at times but its not that big a deal, as long as I get to watch GH on Soapnet the TV is all his otherwise!

Time and money. There's never enough of either.

I agree too - there's seems there's no time for anything
I agree with the TV too - we have 2 tho, but he never wants to watch anything I want to, so I either give-in or go downstairs and watch TV by myself. I feel its so sad that we really don't have any bonding time
I compromise too much!

Re: Whats the hardest part of being married?
I think turning off the TV is very key! Believe me I love the 'idiot box' (as my mother always called it) as much as the next person, but turning it off during dinner and keeping it off for most of the evening is a good thing! I have to force myself to do it, but DH and I really enjoy the time together more if we're not mindlessly surfing channels.

Re: Whats the hardest part of being married?
Money isn't really a problem for us, since we are both pretty frugal. I think for us, the hardest thing has been sharing space and dealing with each other's living habits. We both lived alone for a long time before getting married and it's taking time getting used to each other's 'way of doing things' around the house. I also moved into DH's apt. and I still refer to it as his place, instead of ours. It's getting there, but it still doesn't completely feel like my house.

Re: Whats the hardest part of being married?
I think the hardest thing so far is splitting holidays between our families because both do not live in the same state. We do Christmas with my family and Thanksgiving with his family. His family is really low key about celebrating holidays so I find I don't enjoy Thanksgiving like I used to, and I don't get to watch the Macys Thanksgiving Day parade which has always been a tradition of mine! Plus, I miss a big open house that my parents throw the day after Thanksgiving for all of our relatives.

Definitely trying to reign in our spending. We did save a lot of money before the wedding, but I think JT sometimes thinks that now that the wedding is over, we can spend mass amount of money on things we don't need. Not that he ever really buys anything, but he's always asking me, 'Can we get a big screen, flat panel tv?', or, 'There's five movies that just came out on DVD that I want to get!' That's fine and all to want those things, but, HELLO, we don't have a house yet! We STILL need to save, and even more than before the wedding!

My Dh is the same way. I couldn't agree with you more.

Re: Whats the hardest part of being married?
It was hard the first few months of living together and deciding everything--who would clean what, would we shop together, etc. And his friends expected him to still go out with the single guys every weekend, and marriage changed that. He felt torn and wanted to spend time with the guys, but with both of us working full time and me going to school full time, we needed to figure out what time to spend together.
Now it is so great. Instead of going to the gym in the summer we bike together every night or go for long walks...We're able to talk while we do it..We grocery shop together...It's just so much fun going to bed with my best friend every night. Except when he farts in bed.

Re: Whats the hardest part of being married?
I too think its sharing the space. DH and I lived apart during our engagement and only moved in together once we moved to NC (so yeah, we had about 3 weeks of being married but still living apart!) Its been almost 2 months now, and I LOVE it...but its still definitely the most challenging aspect, and I think he would agree. We were lucky enough to get a 2 bedroom apt though, so we have an extra room for private time, when we need it.

We started doing the bike thing too..we bought some nice bikes and we ride around the neighborhood checking out people's window treatments, patios..etc for ideas for the house...so if you see a couple riding around looking at your house, don't get nervous!

Re: Whats the hardest part of being married?
I would say our opposite schedules. We really enjoy spending time together, but can't right now because we work so much, so we can move and get a house in NC. I think if we had more 'time for us' we'd be a lot less grouchy :)
