Re: When and where did DH tell you he loved you for the first time?

We were dating for three months. It was Valentine's Day. We were in my living room on the couch and just exchanged cards and gifts. I was hoping he was going to write it in the card, but he didn't. We both felt it, and each one was afraid to be the first to say it.

So I broke the ice by saying, I was going to write something in your card, but I was afraid, too. He smiled the biggest smile and said, 'Me too.' So we laughed and then he looked at me seriously and said, 'I do, you know.'

Well, I wasn't going to let him get away with that! So I said, 'You do what?' and he said, 'I love you.' I said it too, and then we both talked and joked about how we wanted to say it for weeks, and how it was hard not to slip up and say it by mistake. It was sweet.

He told me he originally wanted the first 'I love you' to be special. He wanted to take me up to Vermont to a ski cabin and tell me in front of a roaring fireplace. What a softy!
