When Did You Really Feel Like a Wife?

Original post by cjik

So when did you guys start to really feel like a wife? For me, I think this past week or two I've really started to feel like a wife, just a little over two months after our wedding. It could be because there was a health scare with DH (he's absolutely fine, but his symptom were a little scary). It could be that I'm beginning to forget which kitchen/bath items were mine and which were his. Maybe it's just the repetition of doing things as a couple and planning for our future, I don't know.

Or it could just be time. The first month or so that we were married, it all seemed foreign, but now the concept of being a wife seems to have clicked for me.

I think I started feeling like a wife after the HM when we would see family and friends. I love getting things in the mail addressed to Mr. & Mrs.

I still dont feel like a wife, is that weird? we lived together before our wedding so things really havent changed. i think if we were to have children I would feel a change. things are pretty smooth here.

LOL...I didnt even think of the MIL perspective...yes, I agree now that I am married I have been more open to saying whats on my mind when my MIL gets nasty with me. I figure she can either calm down or we dont have to come around. Its our lives now and we need to live for us. So yes, I agree realizing these facts made me realize I was a wife and not a girlfriend.

I felt like a wife long before he proposed....

I seem to remember it coinciding with doing his laundry....

I don't cook either!

I still don't feel like a wife. It feels weird to say 'my husband'... It just sounds so old to me.

I agree with Denise (neespie) it has only been 9 days since I we got married and it feels very foreign to me still, writting it feels really strange in fact I have to keep reminding myself not to write my old last name. I do love calling him my husband and staring at my rings though.

probably for me it was the few months before the wedding after he moved into my house and we were togethere everyday.

But after the wedding the first few times I heard DH refer to me or introduce me as his WIFE!

on our honeymoon and the concierge called me Mrs. (new last name).
Now we have been married so long I forgot what it was like not being a wife!

It was a gradual feeling that just kind of snuck up on me. I love it.
