when you picked your wedding gown, did you buy

when you picked your wedding gown, did you buy

a timeless gown or a contemporary gown?

I remember when i was looking for gowns, I wasnt sure if I should get something 'safe' that would stand the test of time or a gown that was a little bit on the ' season trend' side.

My gown had rouching on it, so i guess i went with the 'trendy' side. I remember thinking that rouching would be soon outdated but I didnt care b/c i loved how it looked on me...

what did you girls buy? and did you struggle with your decision to stay 'safe' or current?

I kinda got both ... The front of my gown was traditional and classy, but the back was all pick-ups which is very trendy right now.

I didn't even think about it!

My gown has a pick up skirt. I liked it, so I bought it--I figured it didn't matter because styles change so much.

I had mine custom made and designed to be a more modern version of my mother's gown.
I guess you could say it was very timeless and vintage?
Although, it did have a capelet with ostrich feathers on it....which to me is sort of trendy.

Hmm I guess timeless...though it is strapless (and people tend to think that is so 'in' that it might be considered modern).

I never thought about it that way, I just wanted something that looked good on me and I'd feel comfortable in. I guess it's more timeless than contemporary, it's a halter top and A-line bottom.

I'm not really sure. The lines of my dress were traditional but I had a lot of color in the beading and embroidery. I'll let you ladies be the judge.

I guess timeless, but it DID have a dropped waist, so maybe not

It didn't have the more features such as pick-ups... although I ALMOST got a gown with those

When i first started looking i wanted something more casual & a bit funky...but when i tried on dresses like that they looked nice but i didn't feel like a bride they felt like a white dress i could wear anytime...i ended up with a bit more 'traditional & fancy' than i thought i would...but wouldn't change it!

Mine was more modern than I intended. It had and asymmetrical waist and diagonal ruching. The skirt, which was lacy, was more classic.

mine did have the 'rouching/pickup' style on the skirt.....but it was so classy & elegant...the bridal shop told me it was absolutely timeless...lol but they could've just been saying that either way, i absolutely LOVED my gown. i knew from the second i put it on that it was 'the one'!

I think my dress was pretty timeless. I wanted something that would stand the test of time. I think the lace, the satin and the buttons down the back have been in style for a long time.
