I live in Brooklyn and am just beginning the name change process. Does it matter if you do SS or DMV first? I thought you need the new name drivers license to get the SS card but from reading some posts, I am not sure if thats true. Thanks

I did them on the same day. I didn't have to do one before the other.

It doesn't matter which one you do first as long as you have your original marriage certificate. I went to SS first, but it wasn't necessary.
