I went with DH and siblings to see the movie yesterday. It was adorable! I love that book. The movie was great!!

Was it scary? My little brother went with one of his friends (she is 11) and she was so scared she started crying! That made me even more curious about seeing the movie!

It did get a bit violent at some parts of the movie. A lot of the kids were with parents. I think it's the animation and effects. The book itself had some violent images so naturally bringing it on the big screen would prob frighten some kids.

Re: Where The Wilid Things Are
I don't think it's really a kids movie. It's very dark, and it's more like an adult retelling of what it's like to be a kid, and more specifically a sad and lonely kid. I read an article where some kids thought it was too sad, at time scary, and one kid in our audience left crying. That being said, I do think some kinds might totally miss that and enjoy it too, so it's a toss up.
DH and I loved it, though. You just have to go in and expect it to be a Spike Jonez movie and not a fluffy kid movie.
