I have noticed that whenever its my family or friends who call, DH will not answer the phone if I'm there. Likewise, if its his friends or family, I will let him get it. We had a conversation about this once; I think I refused to answer the phone for some reason when his mom called one time, and he got a little annoyed. Just wondering if anyone else could relate.

yup- this happens with us.
If I'm in the shower or not near a phone and he sees who it is and it's my family he won't pick up. It's the same way when I call someone and they call back he won't pick up because he knows it's not for him.

Before i wouldnt answer the phone when his parents called b/c i knew they wanted to talk to him anyways lol...but now i always answer when they call and my DH always answer when my family calls as well.

i always make DH pick up the phone. my family and friends only call me on my cell, never on the home phone. if it's his parents, and he's in the shower or not at home, i'll pick it up. for anyone else, they can leave a message.

We don't have this problem. We don't have a House phone. We never got one since we always use our cell phones. One less bill to pay!

depends who's closest. but last night my cell rang and it was my dad...dh was near it so he just picked it up, and i didn't really feel like talking but it was too late

Us too for right now! My mom was complaining that my dad never answers the phone though, so I suppose this problem may never go away!!

Whoever is closer to the phone will answer it. I would never not answer the phone if it was a friend of his or someone from his family I would also be really upset if he did that if any of my friends are family called.

I would say that I answer the phone 90% of the time, regardless of who it is because DH could let the phone ring, but if I do ask him to he will pick up the phone.

most of the time we do the same thing re: checking the caller id to see who's calling ... its just easier that way
but if either of us are home alone, we will pick up the phone regardless of who is calling.

Same here it is whoever is nearer to the phone. But usually it is me DH hates talking on the phone.

same here. although i could see myself doing the same thing (if it's his parents, i wouldn't answer it if he's home)

I usually answer the phone - but Dh will look to see who it is .. if its someone for me he'll yell out 'Its for YOU!!' and I'll pick it up, and when its his ffamily calling - he'll usually pick it up.
He WILL pick up the phone if its my family or friends if Im busy - and tell him to get the phone

He ALWAYS answers. the exception is if it's my parents, then I will. I hate HATE talking on the phone so I never pick up. If i'm alone and his mom calls, I let her leave a message. Ditto for my fam. But most personal calls go to our cells anyway.

we usually both answer the phone, the only time i dont answer it is when i see its dh mom. ( she is going through something now and i perfer not to talk to her, and i know this sounds mean but there are a few times where he doesnt even answer it

OK j/k. Our landline at home hardly ever rings to be honest. And when it does it's telemarketers so we let the voicemail grab those...
