Who hasn't changed their name? Who isn't going to change their name?

I did not and I won't. Husband's name is too ethnic and people have such a hard time spelling and pronouncing it. Also, his last name has 3 Ss and my first name starts with a S and it sounds just horrible.

I didn't want to change it at all, but I compromised by hypenating.

i couldn't hypehnate - it sounded horrible - so for now i have changed my last name evereywhere but work - i am hoping ot get a new job at some pt ion the next year and will probably do it then but for now, its just easier since everyone we deal with knows me as my 'old self'....i never really loved my last name - sound smore ethnic than i truly am (am only half of it!) so now i sound like the 'true mutt' i am!!!

I kept my name... mine is short and easy and his is long and hard to say...DH was totally okay with it, we joke that he should change his name to mine! Socially some people use it and I'm okay with that... I know who I am.

i changed mine because it was really important to my dh but i kind of wish i could have kept it. i didnt change it at work or with social security lol im holding off as long as possible.

I'll be hyphenating because I have a son and still want to have his last name. If it wasn't for him, I'd change it in a heartbeat

For right now I've hyphenated for work purposes...long story, but we had some immigration issues and FH was in London while I was in New York for over a year. There was a time before we started talking marriage where I was looking for a job over here (in London) and so my contacts over here knew me as my maiden name, but also knew I needed a work permit. Now, I have a spousal visa, so no work permit needed. I want them all to recognize me as who I was, but also know that I don't need a work permit now because I'm married--hence the hyphenation. I'll eventually drop it.

I've started to use my married name everywhere else, but haven't changed it legally because I'm overseas.

With the loooong Italian name that I had that no-one was ever able to pronounce, I was more than happy to take his simple Irish last name. I have a younger brother who can one day bless a sweet girl with that lovely name...

So true...our last name is Lopez--but I'm only about 1/8 spanish!!! My brother's kids will be even less!!

I gave up my simple Irish last name for a Polish last name! It's worth it though!

Changed mine the same week I went from Miss BXXXE to MRS. BXXXXXL so it was pretty easy to remember.

Plus I was changing jobs and just graduated college so the only thing career wise that has my maiden name is my BA.


My brother better just get marries soon so he can carry on the family name, he is the last male.

I changed mine. My DH's last name is shorter and I like the 'flow' of it. But pronunciation gets massacred.

I was honored to take my hubbys last name and changeed mine right away.

I plan on changing it one of these days, just haven't gotten to it yet I was hesitant at first but am definately changing it...
