Re: Who walked home yesterday?
Erica, people say that, but I think if you are going at a good pace it is ok. I was just darn hot!!
I had my water bottle and I had changed in to my gym clothes so I was very comfortable. The exhaust from the cars did not help much, but we survived
The only thing that bothered me was the swaying of the bridge, it made me feel light headed

Re: Who walked home yesterday?
Stef- I am glad you are okay. I cannot even call into NYC right now- all circuits are too busy.I thought maybe Luke was able to pick you up from work and you didn't have to walk.
I knew you weren't in the subway since you never get to leave early from your place.

Re: Who walked home yesterday?
The walking home was not so bad. I mean, it was hot but I had my sneaks and knowing it could have been much worse made it bareable. The swaying on the bridge was insane...the cables were making these really loud creaking sounds and people started to freak out and run. At that point I thought 'if the bridge is coming down, then its mytime to go b/c panic is not helping anyone'. At the end of the bridge, Bklyns borough president was clapping and yelling 'welcome home brooklyn' which was cute. That night was so incredibly hot, I was exhausted but could not sleep!
When the power came back on at about 5AM, I was sooo happy to turn that AC on. Sweet sleep!

Re: Who walked home yesterday?
It was very cute. Nice to know that he is out there getting sweaty with the rest of us...even if it is a political ploy.Michele: Thank god i didnt leave early. If the blackout had happened 30 minutes earlier, I might definitely have been on the subway b/c my training class would have been over. I would have freaked out!!

Re: Who walked home yesterday?
I walked home but the other way - over the 59th Street and onto LIC to a restaurant where my mom works. Then from there I got a ride to LI. It wasn't half as bad as I thought. It only took about an hour and half or so from my office to LIC - DH said it was about 4 miles or so. I thought I would be sore because I don't ever work out but I was fine. I was just glad I had flats on to make the walk.I felt really bad for the older people and there were so many people that did not look like they were going to make it....I felt bad.

Re: Who walked home yesterday?
I left work at 4:30pm. I walked with 2 co-workers. We walked from 37th St. and 5th Ave over the 59th St. bridge. We knocked on some guys window and asked him where he was going. I was wearing strappy high heeled sandals...from all the walking a have a huge gash across my ankle, blisters on the back and bottoms of both feet. I thought I was having heat stroke. My face was so red that the guy in the car took one looked at me and let us in the car. He drove us to Flushing. Then we took a bus to Jamaica. My co-worker's friend lived 3 blocks from the bus stop. Thank God his friend was home. He drove my one co-worker all the way to Northport and then dropped my off in East Rockaway. I got home at 10:30pm and my power came on 10 minutes after I walked in the door.Oh...the best thing...MY DH was in Foxwoods while this was all happening. He finally got through to me
and he said I-95 was backed up and he was going to stay. He stayed in a suite because there were no other rooms available. He won some moneyl. He slept to 12;30pm on Friday and came home 4:30pm on Friday. I was so mad.........I got a dozen red roses as he walked in the door though!
NOTE TO SELF: KEEP A PAIR OF SNEAKERS UNDER MY DESK. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN!

Re: Who walked home yesterday?
Hi Everyone.Hope you are all recuperating. I happened to have a pair of sneakers under my desk and walked over the 59th Street bridge. However it took me 4 HOURS b/c my co-worker had on heels and big bags and she is older so it took us a long time. I ended up in LIC to use the bathroom and finally made it home by 10pm. My power didn't come on until 6pm Friday night. Ugh!

Re: Who walked home yesterday?
I walked too ... from downtown brooklyn to 34th and 9th where a co-worker lives. After a couple of hours, I walked back to Chelsea and slept at my brother's apartment. My Dad picked Rob and me up and drove us home. Thank goodness!Dawnie ... you hitched a ride?
I'm glad everyone's okay!
