Just curious because so many different people have different plans....which will be your case?

Re: Who will watch your baby?
both set of our parents. Well MIL is retiring in about 5-6 years though but FIL has off certain days during the week. My dad is great with kids and loves being around them and he can actually watch them. My mom works and don't know when she will retire. But if on weekends we want to go out we know either set of parents will be perfectly fine. MIL can't wait lol
I guess when i actually get pregnant i'll figure it out and see our parents situation at the time.

Re: Who will watch your baby?
I plan to stay at home and raise our child. DH and I always have little spats over which parents (or should I say, Mom) should raise the child, lol.

Re: Who will watch your baby?
We are hoping that our parents will split the time. DH's mom is retiring in January and my mother doesn't work so we are hoping to alternate 2 days on one and 3 on the other and than switch it up. DH gets home from work earlier than I do so he will pick the baby up in the afternoon and I will drop the baby off in the morning. This is the ideal plan for right now...but in my imaginary mind I will be a stay at home mom, which is NOT happening!!!

oh i've seen where that becomes a problem. NOw my mom likes kids but eh after an hour shes like ok im done she was great with me and only me but i guess bc i was her kid. But i watch her with kids now and its histerical to me bc its like she doesnt even know how to talk to them lol, she tries but i feel its so unnatural well im sure with a grandchild it will be different. But i dont think my mom wants to watch a child lets say 8 hours a day 5x a week. She said she did her time and done with it
MIL on the other hand is the opposite, she can be around kids all day. We joke around that MIL will adopt our kid and if its a girl forget it, well thats bc she had 2 boys.

The thing is that both MILs love kids. My MIL currently has her hands full with two grandkids so I wouldn't expect her to raise mine.

Re: Who will watch your baby?
I want to stay home when we have a baby. I own a daycare now, I know some people have to work and have two incomes. Sometimes its just not fair to the kids, parents have to wake them up every morning, take them out when they are sick, they don't get to spend enough time with their kids. I hope I can stay home for the first two years at least.

yeah thats why i said ive seen that situation and can be hard bc its like who do you pick. I know if it were me in that situation i'd find it hard to do too. maybe split the time between them

Re: Who will watch your baby?
My sister thought that everyone was going to watch her kid, and its just not the case in my family.
My mom feels like she raised her kids and shouldnt be 50 caring for a baby 5 days a week for 9 hours a day. I also know of people whose parents watch their kids for them either for free or for a small salary.
I think its best to really have a serious talk before the baby comes to get all the childcare issues straightened out first.
My sister pays about 1300 a month for day care for one child

Re: Who will watch your baby?
I know that my mom isn't retiring any time soon, but may go part-time, as with his mom, to watch our children. If I can get help three days a week, I'll be fine with using daycare or a nanny (preferably) for two days a week. So many women at work have nannies and rave about how great it is! I am leaning towards a nanny though. I am going to be out of work for at least 4 months (if all goes as plan with planning when I will give birth) and have tossed up taking off a full year for each baby (which my district allows).

Re: Who will watch your baby?
if i can't stay at home (which is most likely the case) daycare. I would feel bad to ask my parents to take on raising our children (this is my opinion) because they spent their time raising my brother and I and now it is their turn to be happy and do whatever the want when they want.
BUT that being said my mom and dad both have told me MANY times they don't want to raise anyone's children. I have a niece and nephew who are 7 and yes my parents will babysit them for a overnight trip or go over and sit so my brother and sis in law can go out for dinner but that is it. I don't blame them so that is all I would ask of them anyway. So I have a job that has daycare right there and that is why I am staying at my job.

Re: Who will watch your baby?
my parents will probably move to florida by the time we have children and DH's parents live 2 hours away. We'll have to find a babysitter. I want a live in nanny!

Re: Who will watch your baby?
My MIL already has my child care planned out-she luckily works from home so the days that she is occupied on the phone and may need extra help she already told DHs grandma she has to come up and help!

Re: Who will watch your baby?
My mom! She cant wait! She is seamstress but is having eye trouble so she cant go back to that. She is SO BORED at home - I come home and she is cleaning behind the fridge for the third time in a week! LOL
My MIL will be more like the 'we want to go away for a weekend' type of help! Well, thats what she does with our dog now anyway LOL! She is younger and still working.

Re: Who will watch your baby?
Good question. This is why we aren't trying to get pregnant yet because there is no doubt that we both have to work and leaving the baby with parents is not an option. Daycare is so expensive so I have to wait until I start making more money and can afford it.

Re: Who will watch your baby?
I want to stay home but I doubt that will be possible.
I'm hoping we'll be able to find a part time day care for @ 4 hours a day. DH goes to work at 3 in the afternoon and I get off from work at 5, so hopefully we'll be able to drop them off around 2 and I'll pick them up at 6.
Hopefully

Re: Who will watch your baby?
Since I have to work at some point the baby will prob. be in daycare. Unfortunately, both our parents are 'older' and aren't in the physical condition anymore to watch babies. Either way this is all hyspothetical...who knows what will happen when the time comes.
