Where I come from, when you reach adulthood you move out and get your own place. It seems that here in LI, many adults just stay with their parents.

Maybe most places are like that. But really to make a statement like that, you are going to get it on this site as you should. Period.

i definitely think her original post was extremely condascending and judgemental. that was the downfall of it all.

yeah--outside of LI -- it IS the norm for young people to move out after college and have their own place. i lived outside of long island for 5 years on my own from ages 17-22. worked and had roomates in a house or condo. but my monthly rent was $300. lol when i got back to NY--i did live with my parents until DH and i were married.

if she had responded with a little more tact, i'd have more respect for her. but instead she went back on the attack a bit.

the whole issue i have is also how snotty her mother sounds saying 'if they aren't adult enough to move out they shouldn't get their own invites' -- why does it have to be nasty? why does she feel the need to pour salt in the wounds of people and make them feel like children? that's just sad and plain old mean spirited.

yea i agree. and a lot of times you go away to college and then when you finish you get your own place, not move back home with your parents....

I just read that whole post. I actually couldn't even respond, she obviously has no clue how much NY costs, and she is terribly judgmental and rude. DH and I live in my parents house in their apartment because we are saving money for a home, I guess we are trash

She could have really worded it a lot better, her mom sounds like such a rube.
You're in NY now, we're special people.

Heck, I lived with my parents until I bout a co-op at the age of 32 - and then brought my parents to live with me.

Has anyone read her wedding website? She's completely full of herself.
I didn't even reply to her post because it was a dumb question with a rude comment..
