ooh we loved peconic too. . there are also a bunch of b&b's out there but don't think they're that cheap. .. have fun!!

that's where we got engaged - out on the north fork visiting wineries!

For wineries, you definitely want to go to the north fork, the south fork doesn't have that many.

The closest hotel would be in Riverhead, the holiday inn is pretty new. There are some really nice B&B's though, but in the summer they can get expensive.

As for vineyards, the fav is Pindar, they have a nice sitting area in the back and on the weekends they play live music. Martha Clara is another big one. I love Laurel Walk or Lake (i know its Laurel something) or Macari, and Jasons Vineyard.

Definitely go to Claudios for dinner, its in Greenport and probably one of the best restaurants on the north fork. And greenport is a great town to walk around after dinner.

ok so i have a question tho? what do you do? pay for a tour? tasting? can you have like a picinic?? bring your own food??

is this something that has to be set up? or you just show up?

i sound dumb but ive always wanted to go, but never have actually done it

My favorite ones are Martha Clara, Pindar, Pugliese, and Osprey's Dominion. I don't even really like Pindar though, it's too crowded. I love love love Pugliese, it's small and they have lots of sweet rosés and sparkling wines because they use white niagara grapes (the same as Welches). Ospreys is also really good, but it can get really crowded there as well.

I didn't like Bedell at all, they were extremely rude to DH and I.

a few of us went last week and we went and brought lunch cheese and crackers and all that good stuff and we bought like a bottle of diff kinds at each winery and we just shared with everyone. and we did that at 3 diff winerys! lol we were tannnnnked by the end of the day!

but in the past we have done the tasting, you can taste like 4-6 diff wines at the winery for a fee. but if you only like a certain kind of wine you might be better of doing a bottle. but if you are up to tasting then i would do that!

you can go when they are open! lol they are usually open till like 5 or 6 i would check the websites or call to make sure they are open the day you wanna go..they most likely will be open though!

no need to pay for a tour, just drive along the north road and stop wherever you like. some places charge for tastings (like $5) and others are free. pack a pinic basket for lunch so at one of the vineyards you can eat outside. most have tables set up and beautiful grounds.

also there are some great farms to get beautiful flowers for the house. and brieremere (spelt wrong something like that) has the BEST pies!

U cant go to just one. You have to go to afew. They are all right near one another. I suggest Martha Clara, Pindar, Pellegrini. So nice. Make sure to get some cheese & crackers. At pindar there is live music & u can drnk & have some of your cheese & cracks its so nice. Here is a few pics from Pellgrini & Pindar. Last pic is in Southhold where we stayed. That was our view from our room as well. SO GORGEOUS!

You can def bring food in places too. . there were a few places that had nice outdoor seating. . one day we ate a lunch we packed and just bought wine. . the second day we brought cheese and crackers in with us. . there was a great cheese place in one of the towns there.

we did the tasting at most places. . and then if we really liked something we bought a glass and hung out.

I think the only advantage of doing a tour is not having to worry about driving which could be a bummer. .

That's where I've stayed and we took a tour it was 75 per person but that included lunch transportation to and from the hotel and tasting fees. We went to 5 wineries if you are going to more than three I would not drive yourself
