just curious what the good ones are..and which ones you recommend! i found this online for a beer tasting at Martha Clara Vineyards...is that a good one??

http://www.northforkcraftbeerfestival.com/craft-beer-tickets.html
Chris is not the biggest wine fan so i thought this would be cool...

love laurel lake and pindar.....also jason's vineyard is very nice (he is the son of pindar).

not a huge fan of martha clara

Pelligrini has some good wines also. Raphael is gorgeous, right near Pindar, and their wines are ok as well.

Also, I agree that Vineyard 48 and Duck Walk are not that great.

Make sure to stop and get a pie at Brieremere Farms in Riverheard, they are amazing, ask if they have any pies leftover from the day before b/c they are 1/2 off and still awesome.

As for accomodations, Riverhead has a Holiday Inn express and maybe a Homewood Suites (?) they are probably the most reasonable and right near the outlets. Most B&B's have a 2 night minimum on the weekends. I really can't recommend a place since my inlaws live in Cutchogue we stay with them.

If you want a restaurant recommendation, check out Legends in Cutchogue/Southold, the most amazing wings ever, sit in the bar instead of the restaurant. Also, Claudio's is great but more fancy. And Red Rooster in Cutchogue has great food as well.

Re: Winery

-Pindar
-Bedell
-Osprey's Dominion (in Southold)
-Martha Clara
-Macari (although I think this one was bought by new owners & re-named something else) - they used to have an amazing red ice wine!
-Corey Creek (almost right across the road from Osprey's Dominion)

Re: Winery

Check out this link - it gives you all the LI winery websites & you can pick & choose that way.

To be quite honest the North Fork Wineries are much better b/c of the soil the grapes are grown in.

But check out the link:Long Island Wineries

Re: Winery

I live out by all the wineries, so although I don't chat on here much...I go to wineries quite often

On the weekends MOST wineries have live music and events going on.

Duck Walk has $4 tastings, most people either love Duck Walk or hate it. I'm a lover.

Pindar is affiliated with Duck Walk, sometimes if you taste at Duck Walk, you'll get a voucher for a free tasting at Pindar, not always though.

There is a new Champagne Winery (tasting is pricey $17! But you can buy a bottle and sit outside if you prefer) called Sparkling Pointe

Martha Clara (The Beer Fest is GREAT, we go every year!) tastings are $2 per taste, or there are packages for $6 or $7.

Jason's Vineyard is one of the newer ones, tasting is $5, not my favorite but everyone loves the Golden Fleece (Sweet White Wine).

Macari, Laurel Lake, Peconic Bay, Osprey's...and all good, I just don't have their tasting prices memorized!

There is also LIV (Long Island Vodka) out here, you could go for Vodka tastings, if thats your thing (but a bit off with the whole winery trip).

Claudio's is fun. There are tons of B&B's out here, but I am extremely bias, my brother owns (partnered) an Inn & Restaurant out here, a little pricey but nice for special occasions. I'll send you the link if your interested.

End of advertisement.

Re: Winery

I like Duck Walk, but it gets crowded on weekends.

Pindar is nice. There is also one called Three Sisters, or something like that. It's great.

You could do north and south forks, and stay overnight in Shelter Island (which involves a ferry).

You could stay at East Wind, have buffet there, and talk him into getting you a massage!

Gosh, I live in Riverhead and I love the winiries! My favorites are Martha Clara, Pindar and Baiting Hollow.

Have fun!

PS - You can also check out the Village Cheese Shop - they have fondue there. Also there is a fudge shop I can't remember the name of it. I think they are both on Love Lane

The Village Cheese Shop is GREAT! So is Love Lane Kitchen, it's a little hole in the wall restaurant near the Cheese Shop.
