Wisdom teeth/tooth out

Girls who had their wisdom teeth pulled how long did it take you to heal fully? And also-were you bruised at all?

i think I maybe have to push up this surgery b/c it has swollen to twice the size

I think everyone is different, but I had all 4 of mine out a few years ago (2 full and 2 partial impact) and I didn't bruise at all. I was pretty much OK and just taking advil the next day. I was able to eat the next day..not rock candy or anything, but regular food.

Good Luck and feel better.

I had to have my surgery moved up too because it was sitting on my jaw or something and I could barely open my mouth... I had all four out at the same time and it would have healed FINE except for the fact that the dentist broke one of my teeth that he was taking out and had to do it in pieces so it healed much slower and was very painful... but I have heard stories from good friends that they went out that same night! So I think my big issue was the broken tooth because really some people were fine! How many are they taking out? The pain meds are fun
I hope everything works out and you have a quick and easy recovery!!

Re: Wisdom teeth/tooth out

I only had one wisdom tooth removed and I will not lie - it was painful - this could also be due to the fact that my dentist told me to take advil or tylenol to deal with the pain. Many of my friends, however, have had them removed with little to now pain. I think another reason why mine was so painful was because the whole reason they removed it was because the molar next to it had been chipped to the gum line and had to be removed - so the dentist said since we are in there we will get the wisdom tooth also.

Needless to say the left side of my face was swollen, but no bruising occurred. I only took one day off of work, but really should have taken at least two. By fifth period my mouth was beyond tired from talking so much and I could barely move my mouth. (Luckily my students behaved well because they knew I was in pain). I had the tooth removed on Monday and was feeling 90% by the following Monday.

yea this is my problem, the teeth is at angle and putting pressure on my jaw. Its only the one for right now-but its the one that has been giving me problems and this by far is the worst time-i can open my mouth at all!

Awww nooooooooooooo you will be fine!! If you are going through what I was going through I do NOT think you should even think about trying to wait another week to do it- I was only swollen on the side of the broken tooth- the other side was fine... I say do it asap so that way hopefully you will heal in time for next weekend and you will be able to enjoy yourself rather than be in pain!

I dont think I bruised at all, but it was about a week before I could eat solid food...but I had all 4 out at once.

I had to have my 2 top ones taken out as an emergency. My mouth was so swollen I couldn't eat! I guess everyone is different because I healed super fast and had minimal swelling. I had my follow up appointment 4 days after I had them taken out and the dr. said I healed so well she thought they were taken out 2 weeks ago! I also iced it for 24 hours straight so that may have helped?

Re: Wisdom teeth/tooth out

I had half of my wisdom teeth pulled so far. When I get some more $$$ I want to get the other two yanked out. The first I had pulled took a solid week to heal all the way. Mind you the tooth was on the bottom, horribly impacted and I had stitches too!. My jaw swelled up on one side of my face. People could notice it. At work one of the guys asked me if I had gotten into a fist fight or had an abusive bf. LOL
The second one was the tooth on top of on the tooth that was already pulled. It was fully out, cutting into my cheek. I had that one pulled by a regular dentist, instead of an oral surgeon. My mouth felt better almost right away. (the tooth actually had my very first and only cavity in it.) Less than two days I was able to eat without even noticing it. My face didn't swell and I had no need for stitches.

When it comes to wisdom teeth it all depends on how impacted it, if its infected, if its rotting away, etc... All theses and more really impact how quickly you recover. I was told that top wisdom teeth tend (but not always) easier to recover than bottom teeth.

Pegs.. I PROMISE, you will be fine!!! Don't put it off and risk getting a bad infection.. If you are getting knocked out all the better your DH will just have to pamper you a little bit more!!!

Its not bad at all! Most of the swelling took only two days go down. It was still a little swollen, but that was all gone in a week. My oral surgeon was also an idiot, but he died a while back, so don't worry about getting him.
You'll be fine! when I had my last tooth pulled I stopped getting this terrible migraines and my jaw completely relined.

Re: Wisdom teeth/tooth out

I had two out that were very difficult. I was swollen and bruised. Then I had impacted and I was fine the next day.

It really isn't that bad the next day. It seems scarier then it really is.

Good Luck!
