with all this preggo talk

Am I the only one that is a fan of teen pregnancy?

Not like I advocate it and think that every teen should hurry and get knocked up..But I don't see anything wrong with it AT ALL..Except when they just dump the baby on their parents and still act like a moron and get drunk everynight

but being a young mom its like my dream..I feel that IM a little older then I wanted to be to have my first child..But we've been trying for a year now and still nothing..I kept saying that if I wasn't pregnant by 25 I wasn't going to have kids at all

just wanted to get that out there

I don't know what is wrong with me today

i dont really care...its everyones own business when they choose to get pregnant...
i dont have any children yet...so maybe im not the best person to answer for this post...but ill do it anyway...

i think pregnancy is beautiful! and children are precious, a blessing.... but ill be honest when and if i do see a 15, 16 year old pregnant... i dont think of it as the greatest thing in the world.

they are not mentally, emotionally developed... to take care of another life...they usually can barely take care of themselves... JMO...sorry if anyones offended! dont mean it in that sense...

Re: with all this preggo talk

Im not for it but I am not against it.

I think if a teenager gets pregnant before they are really able to be responsible for themselves i feel sorry for them. Mother and child.

But I think these days it is more often that parents are coming to the aid of their child and helping them thru the pregnancy and letting their children make the decisions. I also think that alot of the wold be grandparents still want to see their child succeed in life so they do the best they can to help their child on their path to being a responsible adult and parent.

If I got pregnant when I was a teenager I know I would have 100% of my families support-they would make sure I finished school, went to college if necessary-we would have made it work.

I also wanted to have my first child by 25-im going to be 28 and at this point in my life I am not upset that it hasnt happened. DH and I are enjoying our lives and right now is just not the time for us-we wouldnt have been ready 3 years ago but I dont think anyone is ever really ready for a baby

Re: with all this preggo talk

im the same way

my family would have been fine..a little sad that it was toung..but okay with it...those people love them some babies no matter where they come from

i just want to hurry and have one already

my biggest fear is that i might have a daughter one day have that happen and she would be scared to tell me

i would neve want my child to be frightened to tell me

i see it as a pain free baby

haha

i dont think anyone should have a child before they are ready to care for the child ON THEIR OWN with ONLY the help of the father

of course most people get SOME help, but our parents already raised their kids they shouldn't have to raise their grandkids

of course if it happens, its great when the family pulls together and raises the child but i wouldnt say i am in support of it

hope i am not offending anyone with my comments today, just being truthful

Re: with all this preggo talk

politically I'm very liberal, but my personal values are very conservative.... I say live and let live.

however....

for myself, I wanted to wait until I was married and fiscally independent. There's something to be said about the socially preferred order of operations (kid grows up, goes to college, gets job, becomes financially independent, marries, and then has kids).

frequently teens will either burden their families with either a financial burden or raising their kids (after all, they're still being raised themselves!)

If they don't go that route, they will frequently sacrifice their own education to make ends meet... which will financially burden the family in the future with reduced earning potential.

Frequently, teens are unmarried, so the odds the dad will remain in the picture is reduced...

all in all, it's not an ideal situation in most cases.

that beind said, of course, there are some teen moms and dads who remain together for the kids sake, and raise their kids properly and gracefully.... But it's super difficult, since all the odds are against them.....

Im not for it. Of course its great if the teen mom is able to care for the baby. But I think its unfortunate that for the mom when they havent even had a chance to live their life to the fullest yet.

ditto

i mean sometimes it happens and you have to deal. but i don't think i would be a fan of the idea of teenagers getting pregnant so young. i mean yeah there are great 'success stories' - but lets be real...most teens who get pregnant young don't hvae the great story.....parents wind up with caring for their grandkids while the teens aren't ready for the responsibility and want to live their 'teen' and adolescent life. it just can be a mess.

In this society (IMHO) 15 and 16 yr olds are not mature enough to raise kids on their own. Not to say it hasn't been done, but the percentages are VERY uneven!
But ther are societies that raise their children to be adults at puberty. Within that society they are raised to be able to handle that type of responsibility.

In this society they are either texting the BFF's or video taping street fights!

i love how you put this!

am i for teen pregnancy - NO.
if the teen can care for their child completely on their own, maybe a different story.

however, in reflection of my teenage years and 20's, i can't imagine having a child around that could possibly prevent me from living the life that i wanted to live. at 22 i came back home after being away at college, and it ******! i couldn't wait to be on my own again, no worries other than making sure i was showered and ate. i enjoyed, and greatly miss, my years of being on my own. again, this is just me. others may feel different, and that's cool.

i think there's a difference of being FOR teen pregnancy, and understanding it when it's really OK for an independent teen to decide to have a child. hope this makes sense.

i think that being 23, married and wanting to be a young mommy is COMPLETELY different than 'teen' pregnancy..jmo. if u want to be young parents and grow up with your children i think thats a beautiful thing if you want that... but no. i'm not FOR teen pregnancy. I would never judge someone that does/did get pregnant because things happen... but no..i dont think 16year olds were intended to have children.

im definitely not a fan of teen pregnancy..... but if it happens and the teen takes care of their child the way any child deserves then i would applaud them. its a VERY VERY VERY tough job....

Are you kidding? A fan of teen pregnancy? What age do you think it's ok for a teen to get pregnant? 13? The age of consent in New York State is 17. That's for a reason!

i just remembered---you're not from NY right? aren't you from kansas? i would imagine that it would be a little bit more common to have kids a little younger around there. i feel like its much more acceptable in LI and NY in general that people wait a while to have kids. heck sometimes people are like 'why have kids before 30?'
