Woman mauled by chimp

OMG, the poor woman who got mauled lost her eyes, nose and jaw in the attack. She is in critical but stable condition. Very sad...

I heard on O&A this morning, that this woman who was mauled came over with a new hair do, new car, and waved an elmo doll in the chimps face?? Is that really what happened? I knew about the car and hair - but Elmo sent him over the edge?

OMG her eyes too! Ugh that is horrible....its so weird in a way - that she'll never get to see what she looks like - is that a blessing or a curse?

I had heard that she was wearing her hair a little different, so maybe he didn't recognize her. I never heard the other things. I believe the owner called her friend over because she was having trouble calming him down. But if she as his owner couldn't calm him, what was the friend supposed to do? I don't know, the whole thing is very sad.

That's what I just read in the Daily News article. If she does survive, maybe she could get transplants at some point?? I guess right now the main concern is keeping her alive. If she does, I imagine she will need a lot of reconstructive surgery.

I don't know, but I am guessing if you are having any kind of trouble you figure its always better to have someone there to try to help you - I know if I couldn't get DH and I was having a problem with say my dog I'd probably call my best friend KWIM?

Its just really sad.....this poor woman had to watch her friend get mauled by the pet that she loves - and now this poor person is disfigured and their life is changed forever.....

Its just so sad all around

I know, I'm sure that many people will place the blame on the owner. But, ultimately she has to live with losing what she probably considered to be like a child, and what happened to her best friend....the whole thing is just horrible.

I also read that some other woman said several years ago he bit her hand when she tried to pet him. She said she called the cops and nothing was done, so she feel that if something had been done then, this could've been avoided. Not for nothing though, you wouldn't catch me trying to pet a chimp.
