Work Related Rant

I am an attorney-well so I thought.

If HQ can't get anymore annoying or waste anymore of my time or get anymore up in my life, we get a memo today stating that they need our insurance policy name, our coverage and we need to take a driver's course (no, they didn't offer to pay). Just wondering, why is my CAR INSURANCE any of their darned business?

I represent children...want a copy of my certificate of good standing with the Bar, okay. Want my proof of continuing legal education, okay. Why do you need my insurance policy? What happened if I took public transportation. They also mentioned that we all need valid licenses. Did I miss something in law school? I don't transport my clients. If I got into an accident, you go through insurance. Bad accident-sue the other driver. What does work have to do with it (i do understand that they don't want rejected claims through workers comp)-but what happens if I was on my way to the mall? Should I sue the mall? UGH! I want to kick them...they make it so difficult-you know, because with all my time IN COURT representing my clients zealously I have time for meaningless paperwork and garbage. And defensive driving? Who cares? I don't. I don't want to pay for it-if they want to pay for it during work or give me comp time, sure.

I am so pissed.

I am going to be a lawyer and fight with them on this one! What do they need next? My blood type?

I'd start asking questions.
If they are going to reimburse your transportation costs, then perhaps I could see them wanting your insurance coverage and proof of a license, but to make you take a driving course ? Doesn't make sense.
Does it have any bearing on your job performance to have a valid driver's license or to have taken a driving course ?
What happens if you refuse to provide this information ?

I am so sorry they are asking you for these crazy things! Could they be responsible for you if you are driving to and from court? I know my job is responsible for us on our drive to work in our personal cars. And if you do take the course, you will get a discount on your personal ins policy. I know I should just give you hugs and tell you it'l be OK, but I am trying to help you see the + side, you could potentially save money

Thanks guys...I don't get reimbursed for regular travel. We do see clients every once in a while and I don't put in for mileage ever. I want the option of signing a waiver!
