WHYYYY do people assume that if you are not sitting at your desk, you must be out for the day? I sit in an open area and see people come in to the area alll the time, and if they can't find who they are looking for because they are not at their desk at that exact moment, they ask someone else, 'Is she in today?' You know, they could have went to the BATHROOM or to speak to someone.
I don't know why this bothers me so much - but it happened at every office I've worked in and I find it sooooo frustrating!!!! Whyn do they need to ask everyone where that person is? Especially if it's not that person's boss??? Just someone else that works there? Right a note, call them and leave a vm, come back later!!!!

And not always but most times you can tell if someone is in the office and just not at their desk.
people are stupid and never stop shocking me
And Jenn who knows why this bothers you, but it does and that's all that matters.
just like the woman that chews ice constantly every single day (thankfully she travels a lot) and it makes me dig my nails into my own skin b/c I absolutely despise the sound (well and her)

I sit right near my supervisor and the IT guy so people are constantly looking for them and assume I'm their receptionist and supposed to keep track of where they are. It gives me so much joy when people ask me is so and so in, do you know where they are, because it gives me innovative ways to tell them it's not my turn to keep track of them. My favorite is my non existent tracking device on them and I pretend to push buttons on my hand and proceed to tell them who ever they're looking for is in the kitchen.

At my last job, I sat in front of a VP's office - but I had nothing to do with him. I would ALWAYS get asked, do you know where Charlie is? Every time my answer was, I don't know, I don't work for him. SO aggrevating!!!

I've had a particular irritating coworker look for me a few times while I was out to lunch... people will tell me later that she loudly paced by my desk and repeat (loudly) 'where's Denise? did she leave?'. And then I'll come back from lunch and she'll laugh and say oh, we weren't sure if you were coming back! hahahah NO. It's not funny. I took my lunch HOUR. Don't act like I was gone all afternoon. And why would I leave and not come back and not tell anyone?? It's not like I'm new... I've been working here for 4 years!!! UGH

That drives me crazy, too! And at my job, there's really no excuse for it b/c we use AIM to communicate! I will always check my buddy list before going to see someone. If they aren't there, they usually have an away message up. If they aren't on AIM at all, THEN maybe you can assume they are out of the office.

I always ask the people sitting next to who I am looking for where they are...that must be very annoying
