What's the worst thing you've cooked for DH? While I usually don't mess up dinner, I made home-made crab cakes last week which came out absolutely disgusting. It's usually my fav in restaurants but I apparently can't do them. It made me sick for a full 24 hours, my stomach was in knots.
BUT...DH loved them and ate the leftovers for lunch the next day. At least one of us liked them!

I made this one thing, it was called a pasta pie or something like that. You put cooked pasta and eggs and spices, etc. (You're supposed to put cheese too, but DH is probably one out of a handful of people who just doesn't like cheese..not allergic, just doesn't like it) So I left that out, and it was terrible, but like your DH, mine LOVED it and actually still asks me to make it.

Well, I only know how to make about 3 dishes LOL..but if I had to choose the worst one it would be my breaded shrimp...DH loved them and wanted more but I wasnt too thrilled about them.

Re: worst thing you've cooked
This past Thanksgiving I wanted to bring over a batch of brownies for DH's family since they were cooking dinner. I decided to make an extra batch at the same time, but I had no idea I was supposed to cook them longer when there's more than one batch in the oven. So when DH's little sister cut into the brownies, they were so mushy and practically raw! I felt so dumb!

It wasn't even a complicated dinner. I just made some guacamole dip to eat with our bag of chips & it was absolutely horrible, I don't know what went wrong but it was bad. I haven't messed up too bad with dinner maybe a burnt meatloaf but I was still adjusting to the new oven

i usually NEVER mess up dinner....but i took a crockpot recipe from a cookbook for some turkey thing(dont even remember what was in it)...but it was HORRIBLE. we ended up throwing everything out - such a waste! but hey - it was a crockpot recipe - that stuff cooks itself, so atleast i know it was the recipe and not me lol.

Re: worst thing you've cooked
We were having a movie day and we wanted to some appetizers. DH wanted to have mozzarella sticks and we didn't have any in the freezer, so I got it into my head that I would make them myself. They turned into one big breaded lump of cheese. DH liked the lump of cheese, but I couldn't look at it.

Re: worst thing you've cooked
I have to say I'm a pretty good cook! BUT, I was attempting to follow a dear friends recipe for Key Lime pie one night. I made a homemade crust and everything! Well My dumba** put in evaporated milk instead of sweetened condensed milk.
DH and I had a great dinner I sliced us each a piece of piece, he took two bites and didn't say a word (I Him) I took a bite and spit it out and yell Blechhhh THen I started to yell at him 'why didn't you tell me this tastes like S***!' He said, 'I didn't want to hurt your feelings!'
What a sweetheart, but even I wouldn't eat that bitter sour disaster just to not hurt someones feelings

I think I'm a decent cook, but I'm the WORST baker. I never do it. One time I attempted a mocha chip angel food cake from scratch and it didn't rise. It looked like a big, flat cookie!

Re: worst thing you've cooked
this was a couple years ago, before DH.. I found a recipe for stuffing that used roasted chestnuts and pancetta. It sounded really good, I think it was actually a Giada DeLaurentis recipe. So I excitedly made it for Thanksgiving thinking it would be a great change to the typical turkey stuffing and it was disgusting! I made enough for 12 people and no one ate it! lol And I know I followed the recipe perfectly! The worse part was that a lot of the ingredients were really expensive... I spent almost $20 alone on the pre-roasted jarred chestnuts!

i was on a health kick and made low fat/low cal lasagna --- used skim ricotta, skim mozz, whole wheat pasta and lean turkey with my regualr sauce.... it was so awful and dry -- completely inedible. but DH loved it, he ate the entire pan. I couldn't stomach one bite. haha

Re: worst thing you've cooked
another time.. i decided to make pancakes for DH's family for breakfast at MIL's house on her electric stove (i'm used to gas).
well, they looked gorgeous, like something in a magazine... perfectly golden brown....
DH's family sat around eating and talking and then all of a sudden DH gets up, had the pancake cupped in his hand and starts laughing and yelling --they're raw!!
My beautiful pancakes weren't cooked the whole way through and were liquid inside... his family felt bad,so they just ate the outside edge but DH thought it was hysterical...I was so embarassed... to this day it's known as the pancake incident...

Sugar cookies! I put too much slat and they were suppose to eb patriotic lmao for the 4th of july; mixing together three colors of dough..well mine came out the size of dinner plates, flat, as hard as plates, GREEN and PURPLE (HOw did that happen from blue ,red and undyed doe) and SALTY. My Dad still laughs to this day.
OR how about the fried chicken I made when I was learning to cook lol. i was 15--friend it BEAUTIFULLY. looks and smelled delicious...until we cut into them and they BLED! I hadnt cooked them beforehand so they stayed raw beneath. BLECH. Once we nuked em in the microwave they were fine but ugh such a disaster lol. i have MANY because I like to experiment.

Re: worst thing you've cooked
Hmmm...I tried to make ratatouille....turns out I don't like eggplant unless its breaded, fried and covered with cheese. It may have been good to some people- but DH and I
I tried to replicate a meal I had in the local diner that I am constantly craving- marinated chicken, artichoke, tomatoes and broccoli over rice topped with feta and broiled (so the feta melts and gets all brown on top...mmmmmm) I failed miserably- mostly die to the fact that I tried to make it healthier by using fat free feta- it was GROSS!!!
(the chicken and veggies were edible- but not great.)

Re: worst thing you've cooked
I messed up pasta with broccoli 'cause I was busy talking and burned the garlic.
Managed to save dinner because I hadn't added the penne yet. Scrounged some tomatoes from the fridge and made a quick sauce without talking at all!

Re: worst thing you've cooked
Gingerbread cookies! I made a bunch as a nice holiday treat and they came out so gross. I used the wrong molasses! I had no idea there were different kinds but of course I picked the wrong one. I'll stick to chocolate chip from now on.
