Would it be completely sad if...

Would it be completely sad if...

if I was 30 with two masters degrees and working at Ritas Italian Ice again this summer. My dad's friend (practically my uncle) owns it and he is thinking about keeping the staff down low and having him and I work weekday nights. He did say this year he will teach me to make ice. But I feel so pathetic being 30 and still working there, in the town I grew up in. But its a job. Between that and editing I could rack up some decent money this summer.

I don't know.

No, it wouldn't be sad at all. It sounds like it could be a fun job.

My best friend works p/t at Coach so she can get the discounts. It's retail, but it's awesome for her. She loves the people she meets and the social aspects of the job. (Oh, and the discount.)

Will it take away from the time you see DH, or can you schedule it for the days he is in CT?

While I don't think it would be sad, I think I would feel sad if I ran into people I knew from years ago and they saw me working there, KWIM? Kind of like you'd want to say, 'it's not what it looks like...'

Hey - I would say NO. I mean I def get the thing about feeling weird if you ran into people you know but I have friends who went from having people pay them to leave one job for antother to being unemployed for over a year so I seriously think NOTHING is taboo at this point. . and these are also friends with masters etc. . if you want to make some extra cash and also be able to just keep busy I say go for it!

No I don't think its sad at all! These are hard times! If I don't get a teaching job next year I'm going to have to swallow my pride and get. Job doing something else atleast part time. I'm thinking I might look into working at a bank. I heard you can get medical benefits if you work there part time.

I just feel like its not an adult job, you know. I worked there during college. At least waitressing or a bank is an adult job, but an ice place is like a high school job. But Dom doesn't want to have a lot of HS kids or even college kids there this year, especially if I am willing to work weeknights. I just feel like to be 30 and working there is sad. At least its because the owner thinks of me as a daughter. And if I get to learn to make ice, thats a plus.

I think I would work Mon-Fri night and make ice in the mornings... so it wouldn't really interfere with time with Jason, just maybe Thurs/Fri nights, but I would still get to see him all weekend.

Times are tough and money is money. You should not care what people think and you are helping out a family friend. It sounds like a fun summer job.

I don't think it would be sad. Yeah you have your degrees, but currently, you are looking for work. So it will give you a job plus the opportunity to bring in some $$$.

I am not sure if people in town know who owns the business, but maybe people will look at you like you're the one who owns the place. Look at it in that respect.

Yeah it ***** if you bump into people you know, but don't let other people;s thoughts hamper what you need to do in life.

Money is money!!! And if you see someone you know and they say something just tell them your helping out I doubt they would say anything anyway.

I have to agree with most of the other girls Michelle - if it's what you want to do, then eff everyone else and do it. Don't waste time caring about what other people think. If it will make you happy, then you should just do it!

They open on Sunday for the parade. Are you going up to the parade? I think I might. If I do I will be hanging around Ritas/Shandon Court.

You're def not alone!!! I'm turning 27 in May and have a masters as well and I've been a 'nanny' for quite some time now... But really all that matters right now is that its pretty good pay, even includes sick and vacay days, and is most importantly paying the bills... I totally feel how you feel believe me... But right now, whatever works- goes KWIM?
