Would it be completely sad if...

Original post by MLAngelo

if I was 30 with two masters degrees and working at Ritas Italian Ice again this summer. My dad's friend (practically my uncle) owns it and he is thinking about keeping the staff down low and having him and I work weekday nights. He did say this year he will teach me to make ice. But I feel so pathetic being 30 and still working there, in the town I grew up in. But its a job. Between that and editing I could rack up some decent money this summer.

I don't know.

I understand its hard. If anyone asks just say your helping out a friend of the family. I hope you find a job you want soon

While I don't think it would be sad, I think I would feel sad if I ran into people I knew from years ago and they saw me working there, KWIM? Kind of like you'd want to say, 'it's not what it looks like...'

I know what you mean! I'd be the same way kinda. Depends on the job though.

Is it sad that I kinda would just prefer a little PT kiddie job?????????????????? Because I would!!!! haha!! Those jobs work nicely when you have kids and stuff.

I wouldnt be sad at all! Im actually looking for a part time job. I wish I had a connection like that! It doesnt matter were you work as long as your a good and hard worker it doesnt matter what anyone thinks! And honestly if people from high school ran into you and thought it was bad of you or sad for working there then who cares about them anyway, thats so shallow in my opinion!

honestly, i don't think it would be sad or pathetic AT ALL! first, it sounds like fun and i can tell you that i used to work at a TCBY (and i LOVED it!) it will give you an opportunity to have some fun and feel happy! i'd go for it and put yourself out there. and don't think bad about yourself.!!! you're such a good person and i think that you'd really enjoy getting some 'figurative' air and making some $$ while learning something cool and spending some time in your old stomping grounds! jmo!

I have worked there on and off since college. It is fun, though hard to stay on a diet. I guess since I live in the town I grew up with that makes it harder and a little frustrating. But I am doing it so come visit.

I would LOVE to learn to make ice though.

Michelle if it makes you feel any better - Im 38 & 1/2 - have 2 masters degrees & contemplating working at local stop & shop as a cashier full-time - not even for a summer job - just b/c it's 5 min from our house & it would be a paycheck once the unemployment stops for me. Sad thing though is that I applied already 2 years ago trying to get summer& weekend hours & I never got called for an interview then ...guess I have too much exp for them

I would do it anyway. Money is money regardless of where it comes from.
