So there is this totally overzealous Sr Associate that I work with who is just a pain in my a$$. She is only one step above me. She is VERY career driven. She's totally pushy and drives me crazy. She is the type that sends you an email & calls 30 seconds later if you haven't answered.
ANYWAY I had gotten some emails from our realtor with listings of houses we were going to see last night. I printed them out & had them on my desk FACE DOWN to take home with me. So here she comes & she's once again HOVERING over me. She asks me where so & so file is & she picks up my stack of UPSIDE DOWN PAPERS on my desk and says 'what is THIS?' and starts leafing through them
Would you ever walk up to someone's desk & start rifling through their papers? I mean, they are upside down for a REASON!

Yes definitely without a doubt-but I cant really answer honestly b/c I am an only child and cant stand ANY of my things being touched, moved, rifled thru, used-etc. Its pretty bad actually

I have to share my desk during lunch so Im used to touchign BUT...if its YOUR desk and the papers were upside down for a reason, total violation of personal space and privacy. I would adderss it polietley but firmly. next time I'd put stuff in those manilla folders and close it (not lick it sealed) and then mark it confidential. if she touches again, read her the riot act. We are HUGE on cofidentiality in my office because we deal in legal documents.

I was just kind of shocked & I said 'that's not it. That's for me' and stared at her until she put the papers down, which was a good 10-15 seconds. She literally looked through all 8 pages.

I would never do that.
I had to cover for a co-worker when she went out on sick leave and even then I hated being at her desk having to go thru files.
That is just down and out rude...... and nosey too.

Umm...hell yes that would bother me. What the hell is her problem? Does she have the right to see whats on your desk. Next time make sure its a bunch of papers with naked men and see what her reaction is
