Would this bug you?

Would this bug you?

I got my thank you notes in the mail last week. I didn't make the 3 month mark, but I did get them out by 4 months. (Aside from the wedding and the holidays, we also had a death in the family--my grandma, who I was very close to, and things have been nutty at work.)

Well, I got a note in the mail on Friday from one of my dad's cousin's asking about the notes. It was mailed the day after I put mine in the mail. This cousin was at the funeral and knows about everything that has been going on.

For some reason, her note REALLY bothers me. It bothers me to the point that I feel like tossing her gift in the garbage (which by the way had the price tag on it still). At this point, it doesn't really matter, because the notes are done and mailed and there is nothing I can do except steam over it. FH says I am being unreasonable and too hard on myself.

Would this bother any of you?

I think it was totally obnoxious of her to mail you a note asking where her thank you note is. EVEN if there weren't unfortunate circumstances in your family. Who the eff does that!?!?!?!?!

We haven't even begun to write ours yet, and are approaching the 4 month mark .... it is very difficult for me to write these days b/c of a herniated disc, and I would have lost my shiiit if I got a note from a relative asking where their note was.

Was her gift really tacky and cheap too?

I think that's a little odd of this relative. It is only just about your 4 month mark now and given the circumstances, I would be p*ssed off .

The gift was fine, a pretty dish that she had sent from the shop. Not tacky.

I guess it just bugs me that she is sitting in her house in CT cluck clucking over my manners. Makes me want to go ballistic.

That would Bug me ALOT!!!
First of All your Grandmother passed away.
I am so Sorry for your Loss.
Have some sympathy for you.
Or at least Empathy.

As far as my TY's I just got them out in Feb.
I don't care what people think.
It took me a while to pick pictures, & I wanted to take my Time.

Please do not let her bother you.
She is so Petty.

Someone sent you a note asking about your ty notes ?

Hell yes this would bother me. That is so incredibly rude of this family member.
Etiquette states that you have up to one year to send out your TYs.
Most of us don't wait that long, especially now that everything is digital and computerized, the cards come in faster. Four months is commendable.
I haven't started mine yet, just never seem to get a chance to do them here at home, so I will take them to work and write some during my lunch hour and my afternoon coffee break.

Just to repeat, how incredibly rude.

I totally agree. One of my relatives mentioned something to my dad about 4 months after we got married. My dad said it took a while to pick the picture and the photographer was sending it out to us asap. (meanwhile, I had yet to even choose a picture). I made sure to pick out a picture very shortly after heaing this though and had them out within the month.

I feel like we all lead busy lives and will get around to it in a reasonable amount of time. For me, I had moved a substantial distance from my home on li and had just started a new job and did not immediately have time to send them out. Plus - for most brides proofs are not ready until 1-2 months after the wedding so there is no way they could get them before 2-3 months.

I wouldn't let it bother for you too long. People love to complain. My dad always says some people will complain about anything. For example - they win they lotto and then complain they have to pay taxes on the money.

It's rude of her to send you a note.

DH's family asked if I sent out mine yet b/c I guess they were expecting them and were worried I had the 'wrong address'

it bugs me, but what can you do... I work FT and have a son... life is busy

I think it is rude for someone to send you a note asking about thank you notes. Especially a family member who knows what you have been going through.

I would definitely bug me...especially since this family member is basically asking for a thank you-which is rude in and of itself...

I havent sent out my TYs yet

Re: Would this bug you?

That is very Odd for her to say that. I went to a wedding 3 years ago and never got a thank you. The bride was 4 months preggo at the time and probably was overwelmed. This was an ex coworker that I've lost touch with, but even if I didn't, I would never say anything.

I had to at this ..... (not at you caroline, but at your relatives!)

Ummmm .... if you managed to mail them a wedding invitation to the correct address, and they haven't moved since the wedding invites went out .... how would you *possibly* have the wrong address for them?

IMO is was just an excuse they made up to ask for their thank yous.

Man, weddings sure do bring out the *best* in people, huh?!

thats very rude of someone to ask where your TYs are. As if you have nothing else going on in your life!

It's 7 months & I haven't sent ours.

Look...MAYBEEEEEEE she just sent a letter with some other stuff & said without thinking: 'I'm looking fwd to getting your thank you letter'...or 'when are you sending those out'?

Maybe.

Don't let these things bother you.

You will never satisfy everyone!

Re: Would this bug you?

thats completely obnoxious & all i can do is laugh at this girl....this is probably one of the tackiest things i've ever heard of.....first of all - 4months??? that's GREAT timing! My friend got married last year, and we didn' get her thankyou untill 11months after the wedding. just ignore it - people like this have no ettiquet & no shame...as annoying as it is, brush it off & remind urself that somebody like that isn't worth the aggrivation. ps: i mailed my TY's 6 1/2 months later...

I'm sorry, I'm still trying to get over the fact that someone actually asked you about sending your TY cards!!! That's incredibly rude.

There are different ettiquette 'rules' out there. Some say 3 months, some say 6 months, some say up to a year. In this day and age when many of us do photo TY's and don't even GET our photos for 2-4 months after the wedding, I think it's very rude for anyone to ask you about them.

Especially if you had a death in the family!

I wanted to get mine out asap after the wedding, but right when I got my pics it was time for the holidays. Then I've had some health issues. It's been 4 1/2 months since the wedding and I just ordered mine last week. I'm aiming to have them all out this month. And if someone were to ask me about them, I'd tell them to kissssssmyass.
