Would you be mad?

Original post by lorimari

DH and I are in a disagreement over the following situation. I think its rude and appalling, he is ok with it. Here we go:

Friends of his called Friday night and said they were going to stop over in a little bit. This was 6:15. They decide to show up at 8:45 w/ their two little kids in tow. As the son is walking up my stairs he hands me cookie dough and says 'can you make this for us'. I spent the next hour baking cookies for the kids while the wife sat there looking through catalogs.

First off, I feel like if you are going to stop over don't expect me to bake for your kids. Bring something already made, especially that late at night. I was FUMING.

DH said they are his friends and we go there and hang out so its ok. I disagree - I never show up with anything that needs to be cooked or demand they do anything for me. I like this couple a lot but lately a lot of things they do really tick me off and I need to distance myself from them b/c they are DH's really close friends and I'm trying to respect that friendship.

I can't say anything to them b/c they will take it the wrong way........what do I do to prevent this from happening? This isn't too bad - they have actually done worse but I've lost my patience.

Thanks for letting me vent.

First of all, if someone at 6:15 said they would be over in a little bit, I expect them before the hour is up, not at 8:45 at night! That alone would piss me off! I think it is a good idea to distance yourself for a while otherwise you will snap and made to look like the b*tch plus your DH will be put in the middle, which is not fair to him.

That is so rude!

I would tell them that the kitchen closed at 8pm or that the oven is broken!

I agree that it is very rude of them to expect you to bake cookies for their kids on the spot. Since they are good friends of your dh's, I would let it go and the next time they come over just offer other things to them.

Yup one word...RUDE forsure!! I would have said 'My oven is not working properly, I don't want to burn the cookies, so have your mom make them for you when you get home'!

Gosh is that mean? Well I am sure she told the kids to ask you.

Lori, I would have said -- 'No kiddies, it's too late, why don't you have mommy help you tomorrow?'

That is freakin insane, and honestly, next time you go to their house, bring your laundry and hand it over to this hoe-bag and tell her you'd like only light starch in the collars, please.
