I'm thinking of replacing my center stone in a year or two. DH doesnt know but I had wanted something slightly bigger and its bothered me since we got engaged. I think when we have a little more money in a few years I'll upgrade but keep the old one too for memories.

When I'm a bazzilionaire MD - I plan on upgrading all of my jewelry
Oh oh........I want to be a bazzilionaire too!!!!!!!
Get thy butt to Med School, chica
Or law school.
I'm not sure. I have a decent sized stone, and I'd never, EVER get rid of it. Maybe one day I'll get a giant 4 carat rock.

nope wouldnt change or upgrade.. FH had my e-ring custom made so IMO my e-ring is different and enough bling for me... love them both!

Re: would you ever replace your ring?
I've got to say I really LOVe my e ring and my wedding band. It was exactly what I wanted. It's a 3 stone emerald cut ring which I don't see too much and DH had them put all diamonds around the side. So I probably would never upgrade...however, that's not to say I wouldn't want another diamond eternity band in a few years.

Re: would you ever replace your ring?
no way...... never
the ring has nothing to do with the degree of bling, and everything to do with what it symbolizes...
it would bother the cr@p out of me to know that the new stone isn't the original..... Of course we'll be much better off in the future, and able to buy more $$ things. That's not the point... the ring was bought on a grad student budget... he skimped and saved, and was really careful in what he selected..... I love it as is.......

I love my ring. I know that it FH picked out the stone himself and then picked out the setting separately. He put a lot thought into it, and I want to keep the ring that he gave me.

Re: would you ever replace your ring?
not in a million years would i want to replace it. everyone is entitled to their own opinoin and everything, but i never quite understood the idea of 'upgrading' the ring for something bigger or something. but that's just me. the ring my DH gave me is the ring he gave me...period....that's it...end of story. replacing a setting, stone, or making it 'bigger' would mean that its NOT the ring he gave me the day he proposed!!
i know some ppl want something 'bigger' when they are older and more established, but to me, i like being able to look at my ring in 20 years ...when we are probably much more financially stable and such and say to my kids 'it may not be a 5 carat ring, but its what your dad could afford to get me, and he gave it to me with all his heart'

Re: would you ever replace your ring?
My center stone is dh's grandmothers and i would never change or upgrade it for anything.. it has more centimental value than anything.. just seeing her face light up when she saw me wear it for the first time was worth endless upgrades...I someday will give this stone to one of my grandsons.

I'm not replacing my rings because I love the originals and it's perfect for me. But if I wanted something different, I'd get new ones to wear on a daily basis but keep the old ones because I could never get rid of them (I'm too attached to them).

OMG melis, you made me choke up.. Literally.. I'm not being a snot this time.. (blame it on the hormones.. im not usually this soft..) awww little tackleberries!
For me, no, I wouldnt.. I completely agree with Lauren, Peg, & Melis. It is part of who Vin & I were and are. Just as Melissa & Lauren said, its what Vin gave me after saving and saving.. I could never, ever, ever change that. The diamond, setting, time.. everything made us who we are as a couple now. My mom always told me 'never marry for less than 2 carats' (she was kidding btw.. ) but when she saw Vin & I together, she said 'you marry for love, F the ring. Look at what your father gave me.. it was young love and it is worth it'
