to save money? DH and I are in the process of saving $$ for a house and we were kidding around about it at first but it got me thinking....

Re: Would you move back in with your parents...
No. They don't have the space. They've also converted my room into a big closet and my brothers' room into a sewing room/home office. And there is only one bathroom.
A friend of mine just sold her co-op and she and her husband and toddler are moving back in with her parents. They have a much bigger house but I still could not imagine doing it.
I love my parents very much and if at some point one or both of them needed to move in with me I would be happy to have them. But moving in with them would lead to conflict for us, I'm afraid.

No, though it depends on the house set up. If you had you're own apartment/space, maybe.
We moved back in with my parents for 2-3 weeks when we moved back to NY. That was long enough

Re: Would you move back in with your parents...
We lived with our parents BEFORE the wedding to save money. I don't think I could do it now. I guess it depends how much privacy you would have.
ETA: I almost forgot.. we lived with Rays parents for about 2 months after the weddign waiting for closing/moving into our new house. It wasn't that bad, we had our own entrance, bathroom, but we had to share the kitchen. It was tough with Gizmo though because they have no fence. I always had to walk him which I am not used to.

we lived with DH parents for 3 months before the wedding and 4 months AFTER the wedding....
we had our own space, some privacy...but it was so hard because MIL was always in our business! But we saved some $$ and then decided to move to Georgia

I would in a heartbeat to save some money!! Paying rent stinks. My mom even offered to fix up the baement for us, all we would have to pay each month is for food. But DH won't go for it. He has not lived with his parents since he was 18 and when I mentioned it I got this evil look and a NO WAY!!

We moved into my Mother's house for 2 months between our lease being up and closing on our house, though it wasn't awful, nope wouldn't do it again.

No way. Not for all the money in the world. Privacy is worth more to me than anything.

Same here. I'd rather live in a box on the corner. And it has nothing to do with my mom or his parents, I just could not ever do it as an adult.

Now that we've seen what it's like to live on our own (we lived with our parents until we were married), there's no way we'd go back! We love our privacy and being able to do things without feeling weird or guilty.

Yes! We did!
We live in an apartment in my parents house.
We are totally seperate, we have our own kitchen, bathroom, bedroom ,living room. We use a separate entrance.

This is something we are kicking around at the moment. It comes up every now and again. We'd move in with my IL's to save an ungodly amount of money for a year and have a really nice down payment.
While that is attractive, we struggle with the privacy issue on both our parts. We would share the kitchen, and have our own bathroom. We're trying to figure out if it's worth it.

Re: Would you move back in with your parents...
My parents? NO.... mostly b/c they live in Brooklyn, But also, my brother and sister are 15 and 16, and when i'm around them, i act that age again too so that just wouldnt be a good idea/ situation in ANY way shape or form.
my In Laws.... Yes, in a heartbeat! we love entertaining at our apartment, but like someone else said., it would save us a Ridiculous amount of money, and we'd be able to buy a house sooooo much sooner! Also, i loveeee my ILs, and theyre extremely unintrusive, so i dont feel like it would invade our privacy... But, i dont think its an option, b/c i think they value *their* privacy more

I moved out when I was 19 and I haven't returned. I just couldn't do it. They would take us in a heart beat.

YES! I think we are goign to have to...When we buy a house we are going to have to use the profit we made off our condo...
and it makes me nervous to buy and sell sooo close. SO we are considering moving in with my dad.. But i am sure it won't be that bad
My grandmother offered us her downstairs too (an apt) And she is also gone Dec-April in florida
So we are looking into what we shall do. But we are fine with either one

Re: Would you move back in with your parents...
Well I would not have the option to move in with my parents, but I would never move back in with my grandfather or ever move into my mil's house. We started off in my grandfathers house for the first 5 months we were married...it was very hard and stressful. I couldnt do it again! However, I know many people that can do it, and are saving for a house.

Re: Would you move back in with your parents...
Well, my parents just bought a new house with a full apartment in the basement....and it's bigger than where we're living now.... so i'm thining that when we get ready to buy a house, we ight have to live there in between selling the co-op and buying the house. I'd do it, but only on a temporary basis....and with some groundrules

For a short period of time in order to save money - sure. Well... I'd move in with one of MY parents...don't know if I could ever move in with DHs parents.
