to save money? DH and I are in the process of saving $$ for a house and we were kidding around about it at first but it got me thinking....

we did for 2 months because we were in contract and the house took extra long to get into it. it was the worst thing we ever did. no privacy.

Now that we've seen what it's like to live on our own (we lived with our parents until we were married), there's no way we'd go back! We love our privacy and being able to do things without feeling weird or guilty.

I don't think I could live with my parents again for a long stretch of time. I have been on my own for SO LONG that it would be totally weird

However - as Red said, there is a very good chance that something like that might happen in our case as well.. between selling our co-op and buying a home in the future.. since we'll need to sell the co-op 1st and use that money as our DP, I don't know how else we could manage to swing it unless we temporarily (emphasis on TEMPORARY) move in with one set of parents

I would definitely move in w/my parents over DH's .. not they aren't just as nice, they are lovely. but I would feel just too uncomfortable at my in-laws..

We have lived in a bedroom in my parents home for over 3 years now. We really needed to reset. We are out of debt, I don't touch my checks at all, DH had the chance to get another degree. We are excited to move out, but because we live there, and due to the fact we are moving out of state, I can be a SAHM, we have money saved to buy 2 new cars, so I will have a low mortage and no car payments.

Same here. I'd rather live in a box on the corner. And it has nothing to do with my mom or his parents, I just could not ever do it as an adult.

That's what I was going to say! Never, not going to happen, my parents know they are going to live in the home if they can't live by themselves.

It sounds more cruel than it really is..

Hell would have to freeze 10 times over before that would happen.
I could not live under the same roof as my mother.
My in laws....maybe. We get along great I just think it would be uncomfortable for everyone.

No. I just couldn't do it. I love my parents and we get along great, but I have been out of the house since I was 17. There is no going back.

we did for 2 years while we were saving for the wedding and then while we fixed up our house. i have a great relationship with my mom and my dh and her get alone wonderful so it was a great choice for us. we never would have been able to pay rent as high as what we were paying in queens 1300 for 1 bedroom and still be able to put as much money as we did away. we paid for our wedding in cash and then put a decent amount on our house and then fixed it up. we are living in our own place now and we both miss my mom and stepfather lol.

We moved back into DH's parents house last summer for a couple of months. It wasnt so bad for me but DH wanted to kill himself. I don't think we will do that again..

No, my parents don't have the space. But I have thought about it and I really wouldn't want to. Even though, is a great way to save money. My dad is nosey and I wouldn't want him to get involved in our arguments. I was told by a few people that live with their parents and they had said that it would put a strain on our marriage and I don't want to do that! But if your parents are cool and understanding, I would do it in a heart beat.

we are kicking it around at least when my husband starts student teaching we might move back in for a little while at my parents it will be weird but they are fun so I don't think it will be so bad!! But then again I have been out of the house since I was 23! So it could be strange but it will help with saving money!

i would say yes....privacy is a huge issue but you need to but aside some things to get to the ultimate goal ( ). I woudnt over extend the stay and thier needs to be some privacy involved.
