Would you re-marry?

Would you re-marry?

I'm watching High School Reunion and one of the guys on the show got me thinking....
SO I wanted to know:

5 - 10 years from now, if DH died, would you re-marry?

and if something happened to YOU, would you want DH to re-marry?

Re: Would you re-marry?

to answer my own question....

I probably would re-marry down the road, but I would keep DH's last name. And I'm sure it would take me a looong time.

And I would want DH to re-marry. The thought of it now makes me sick (the thought of him having a family with someone else), but at the same time, I want him to be happy.

I might, it depends, I think I would have to meet someone who could take the place of DH otherwise I wouldnt and would stick to staying single. Im so used to him that I dont know if i could deal with anyone else

As far as DH I would hope that he would if he found someone.

DH would DEFINITELY remarry... he needs someone to take care of him..

This is an interesting topic.

I don't know if I could remarry, but if I did it would take me a long time to do so. I would probably keep his name and hyphenate it.

I would definetly want DH to remarry when he felt that the time was right. I would want him to be happy again.

My dad was in a similar situation when my mom passed away. She had given him her blessing, but he could never bring himself to date.

I honestly don't know! That is a tough question. It would take a really long time for me to be able to marry someone else. Maybe if I met the right person but it would be so hard to replace what I have now.
If it were the opposite I would hope he'd find somebody [who's just like me of course ] so he could be happy, he deserves that. I wouldn't want him to be lonely.

DH always says if anything were to happen to him, he would want me to remarry. If something were to happen to me, tho, he would not. who knows! so sad to even think about it!

Hell yes!
Both ways!
Who is to say that a dead person has 'claim' over someone...

Re: Would you re-marry?

where i am right now, i don't think i could. we are perfect for each other and i just don't think i could find someoen else, or i don't think i would want to.

DH and i have had this conversation and he says he wouldn't although i would want him to be happy, whatever that would mean for him.

DH & I were just talking about this the other day...i think i'd stay single...maybe date...it'd take me along time to move on...

Dh would move on (he's always been that way)...i don't think he'd marry again...but probably live with some chick...i told him i'd visit him from the other side if i could....haha

Re: Would you re-marry?

this is the story of my dad - married mom at a very young age, they divorced when i was 5, and it was the best thing for them. met his 2nd wife a couple of years later, they were engaged for 15 years - she was 10 years older, her first husband cheated a lot on her, she was afraid of remarrying. she developed breast cancer that spread to her lungs, then brain. fought bravely for 5 years, then lost. dad was single for 3 years, no dates, nothing. finally went on match.com, set up a date with a woman from whitestone. unbeknownest to me, or anyone, random lady on match.com ended up being my best friend's aunt. dad proposed to her 6 months later

point of my very long winded story, you might lose the love of your life, but that does mean you have to be alone for the rest of your days, and for my dad, marriage is the only real commitment (yeah, he's old fashioned).

Re: Would you re-marry?

I tell my DH yes I would want him to. He says he would not and the romantic side of him tells me he would die inside if I did pass on .. but time does heal...

It is funny he tells me I BETTER NOT, and he would come haunt me

but I prob would if the right person came along.

Re: Would you re-marry?

Its funny I was just thinking about this the other day as a matter of fact and intended to post it but never got around to it.

I personally do not think i would remarry. Not to say I wouldn't get together with someone else for a long-term basis if God forbid something happened to the DH, but before him, I had alot of guys in my life and I was not the marrying type of girl. I was a major commitment phobic.

I never pictured the happy marriage and the house and kids. Not for me anyway. I never expected to meet the DH but he just 'fits' me so well and I really doubt I would ever meet anyone who complimented me as well as he does.

So while I do not necessarily believe there is only 'one true love' out there for everyone, I do feel that he is my 'treust love' and anyone else that came after him I would love but be content with just being with them, especially if it is much later in life when the word 'marriage' is jus that-a word. I could say 'been married, done that.'

if something happened to me I would want DH to find that someone special because he is the type of personality that is a workaholic unless he has someone to love and focus on and i would wnat him to enjoy the rest of his life, not just exist in it.

Re: Would you re-marry?

I would like to think I would, but to he honest I'm not sure. Joe is my perfect partner and to 'hope' I would find that twice...I just don't know if it's possible. I would mor ethen likely date casualy, but at this moment no I would not remarry even though he would want me to. I would want him to remarry and to find love again. He needs to marry a maid!
