WWYD - Invited to Boss' Wedding...sorry it got kinda long
So my boss asked me yesterday for my home address as well as 2 other women in my office (it's a smaller office of about 20 people but our home office is located in Boston - so that's why he doesn't have my address). My feeling is that we're invited to his wedding next summer - it's a second wedding way out in the Hamptons. He declined for my wedding but really didn't give a reason but gave a nice check.
When asking for addresses and spouse's names he said I already know Anthony (now Anthony is my DH's real name but he goes by middle name). I speak about DH in the office all the time but this is one of the reasons I'm thinking of not going to his wedding - cause he doesn't know me personally even though I've worked for him for over 5 years. I know when the wedding is and probably will not have anything going on then.
WWYD - do you go to the wedding? decline? And what do you give as a gift? I certainly cannot give what he gave DH and I.

i would decline and send a sensible gift for your budget. You are not obligated to give him what he gave you.

i might go because it might look good professionally to show up. it depends on whether your boss is inviting you because he HAS to or because he wants to. sorry that was no help

I think he's inviting cause he wants to. There's someone else in the office that if HAD to invite us that he would have included...but he didn't. But I don't know if it's him wanting to or his FW that wants to.

I wouldn't go, but I would get him something off the registry. I would feel weird giving my boss a monetary gift, honestly.

I would find out if anyone else is going from the office whom you're friends with and consider going if the date works out well for you. It would be a nice experience, and you were invited. If you feel awkward or uncomfortable or don't want to go, though, don't go.I'd just give a modest gift off the registry that fits your budget and not worry about matching his gift. If there's no registry, then I'd do a gift card, and vary the amount depending on whether you go or not, but still keep it reasonable within your budget.

My first guess is that he's asking for addresses to send you a holiday card - I am doing the same thing, so that's my guess!

Hmmm I'd wait and see if you are invited. Then see if you want to go to wherever it is/can even make it. I'd say to just take it from there.
