X-Post: Shower & Bridesmaid expectations

Hi NW ladies!!!!

Was hoping you could help me with something. I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding coming up for one of my old college roommates. We have been asked to split the costs of her shower. Are we also expected to give her a gift gift? What we have been asked to chip in is pretty significant (to me at least), so I'm not sure what to do about a gift.

I'm not sure how this works because my mom hosted my shower herself, so my bridal party all chipped in together and got me a nice present (although what they spent per person is still less than what I'm contributing to this shower). I was thinking about maybe doing something 'small,' like a channa plaque, but wasn't sure if that wasn't enough since I am her bridesmaid??

Anyone have any experience with this?

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

Usually the BP chips in and gets them a gift. My BP got our luggage for us. But then again, my sister paid for my shower so Im not sure how it works when the girls are paying for the shower too. Maybe talk to the other girls and see if theres a gift you can all chip in that wouldnt be too much but still nice? good luck!

Re: X-Post: Shower & Bridesmaid expectations

I'd probably spend a little less on the gift than I would if I weren't asked to chip in a significant amount for the shower, but I'd still give something more than a Channa plaque. Maybe a Channa plaque and something smaller off of her registry? I just feel like if I'm close enough to be your BM, I'm okay with throwing you a party and getting you a great gift as long as I have the means to.
