I am sooooo sorry but tell your MIL to Mind her own business!!!
DO JUST WHAT YOU & DH WANT TO DO!!!!!
I am VERY lucky and have in-laws that have NEVER tried to push anything on me including when they gave us $$ as a gift to help with the wedding. They never tried to control what it was spent on. We did just as we wanted. It was also their very generous wedding gift to us.

Re: How pushy are your inlaws?
I'm very lucky, my inlaws are fabulous! I'm sorry your MIL is always butting in your business. Can you say something like ' We visited DH aunt for several days last time and would now like to devote some time to DH uncle.' BTW, I can't believe that they expected you to visit family on your honeymoon, doesn't she know you had better things to do!
But anyway, if the issue still persists, tell MIL to tell Aunt to drive to where you are and you can meet for dinner or something. Then she can visit with you and give you your wedding gift.

Re: How pushy are your inlaws?
Sorry you deal with this crap. It can be so stressful. I dated a guy for six years who had a mother like this and we clashed often. Fortunately now I have a wonderful MIL who doesn't butt in much and treats me like one of her daughters...
Anyway, the best thing is that your DH agrees with you. That is half the battle. I found with people like this they love the battle more than the cause. Keep it plain and simple... Tell her you are sorry that your plans did not work out as she (MIL) and the aunt had hoped but of course they must understand with the limited time you have that you really do not have the opportunity to visit more. That is all just smile at her when you say it and give nothing more. Stick to your wants and needs. It will make her crazy but you can even tell her that her insisting and going on will not change anything. Smile when you say it, don't let her think for a second she is frazzling you.... I fuarantee it will make her nuts and hopefully get her off your back.
Good Luck

I used to complain about my MIL being pushy. After reading your story, I can't! Yours takes the cake.

I would just do what you and DH want to do. If MIL is smart, she won't mention to Dh's aunt that you are going to Italy. Good Luck and stick to your guns!!! MIL will get over it!

Boy, you and your in-laws!! I'm so sorry you have to deal with so much of this crap!! Have you tried yessing them to death? Tell them sure, you'll 'try' to stop by while in Italy, and just never go!

Re: How pushy are your inlaws?
I'm sorry that your vacation planning is causing so much stress. At least, you and your husband are in agreement. You just have to stand firm. I wouldn't even address it with MIL anymore.
Luckily, my inlaws aren't pushy. The only pushiness is my MIL asking me from time to time to call her 'mom'. It does not look like it's going to happen.
