Considering that she is going to be 2 I highly doubt she had any influence on the registering part. I think it's a bit odd, but it kind of makes sense. I mean as a parent, do you want to have the hassle of returning clothes that don't fit or repeat toys? Definitely does help eliminate that.
very true- thats a good way to look at it! And I guess it eliminates everyone asking- what should I get her too-
Exactly and the kid is still surprised!

Re: Registering
Just wanted to add that my friend didnt enclose registry cards in the invite or anything- I asked what her daughter would want & she mentioned the registry then- dont want anyone to think that she's a bad person- she's not- I just thought it was a little off.

Re: Registering
I agree it's tacky... and not setting a good example to your kid, teaching them to expect and demand gifts... it's one thing when you're a newlywed couple or soon to be parent, just starting out... but a birthday?? lol people can be so greedy
like future farrell said, they're 2, they'll play with cardboard boxes lol doesn't take much to entertain them

LOL...yes she was seriously considering it and didn't want to register for her shower or wedding since she had everything she needed. It was an online registry I think.

Aw, I don't think it makes her a bad person. Like I said, to each his own. I guess another way of looking at it, is that it's practical. I know when I get my cousin's children gifts, I ALWAYS ask her because I have no idea what toys/games they already have.

thank you! I think I may have worded the original badly- I had asked my friend what to get her and then she told me about the registry- I should have added that.

Re: .
the kid is only two - so i don't think its teaching her kid anything its kind of silly to think she is setting some kind of example - the kid is only two and probably barely grasps the concept of a birthday let alone registering
maybe she just did it like mici said - its just easier that way - people are probably asking her all the time what to get the baby - i know that my SIL gets bombarded with questions for her son's bday and christmas (my nephew is 2) and then ends up with duplicates or things that don't fit and ends up returning stuff....
i think its kind of strange but understandable....

I think that since she didnt include the registry card and just told you when you asked its a good idea. I mean if no one asked she wouldnt tell them, but when people ask she can say well I made a wish list at Babies R Us ...it makes it nice and easy for her that way you can see what she wants and get it or just go off the registry. I actually think its a smart idea.
