I got news I was being laid off!!!!! I feel like I was kicked in the stomach!! Sorry to vent, but I'm actually supposed to keep this confidential at work! They are doing layoffs and for some reason want to keep it a secret? I'm so confused!!

Thanks ladies, I just felt I had to let it out, I only told DH and my parents. I do have some time to look for a new job, which is better than no notice at all. I just wish that I didn't have to look at everyones face for the next few weeks.

Ohh, I'm sorry!!
I knew a month before it happened too...not just abou tme...it was hard to go to work everyday and look ppl in the face.

It s u c k s! I know we are all NWs and its tough for stuff like this happens- especially when they say your first year is your hardest!!

This just happened to a friend of mine too.. I don't understand making you keep it confidential. Just so they don't look bad? and what would they do if you didn't keep it confidential?

Just do what you gotta do, get your severance and go on unemployment. GIve yourself time to think through what you want to do as a next step. It s ucks to get laid off

I'm sorry to hear that, I was laid off this month too. Try to stay positive, I have had 2 interviews so far and may start work in a couple of weeks. I know it's hard to believe but sometimes there is a reason for everything.

I think they want it to be confidential because then maybe people wouldn't do work and steal things. I know if I knew I was being laid off, I wouldn't do anything.

I understand why they think it's better to tell you weeks ahead of time - but I honestly think it's better NOT to tell you. I was laid off too this month and not knowing was much better, I think. I'm a worrier and I would have been SICK over it.
