Yet another TY question

I am STILL writing my TY notes, and I have a somewhat weird situation with one couple, who is DH's cousin and his wife. The cousin came to the wedding, but the wife couldn't make it. We did not receive anything from them. We will write them a TY note, thanking them for coming to the wedding (I have no problem doing this). But do I write it to the cousin only, thanking him for coming to the wedding, or do I address it to both, thanking the cousin for coming to the wedding and saying that we were sorry that the wife couldn't make it? We are getting close with these cousins, so we certainly don't want to offend them. How should I handle this TY note situation?

Thanks for the suggestions. I was thinking about writing something like this, but I need your opinions. That's what I'll do!
