your favorite dinner to cook

Hi all --
I'm new to this being married thing and cooking every night. We've been married 2 months almost (holy cow!) and I want to try new dishes instead of just recycling the same 6 or 7 dinners in a week... what's your favorite dinner to make?

thanks!!

My normal dinners are:
spaghetti and meatballs; homemade pizza; chicken cutlets; fajitias; pork roast; roast beef; london broil

what are yours??

My Dh loves plain old Tacos! Get the El paso kit.
All you have to do is buy the lettuce, Ground beef and Shredded Taco cheese . Your Dh will love it.

Turkey Burgers. I buy the fresh ground turkey (instead of the frozen patties) and season it myself wtih garlic, onions, salt, pepper and worsteshire sauce. Very easy and tasty.

If I don't want to chop onions I use onion powder and garlic powder.

During the week we mostly eat either chicken cutlets or turkey. So I have many varieties of ways to cook both!

I am not a big cook so keep 'em coming..I want to be inspired!

When we had our own place, my best dishes were spaghetti with homeade sauce and our version of Chicken Soft Tacos..we bought the pre-cooked chicken meat, soft taco shells, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese...easy and yummy!

i would get one of rachel rays 30 minute meals cookbooks- they're great and easy! DH and i like them because most of the recipes will feed 4 people, so we usually get two dinners out of each
we do that a lot- we'll cook big dinners like 2 times a week, and the other nights eat the leftovers from those dinners. that way, you don't have to actually cook every night.
do you have a crockpot?? those are great, too! i make an awesome chicken chili in there and its basically no work at all. just dump in the ingredients and turn it on

My DH loves when I make meatballs. (turkey). I also make cheesy chicken and shells casserole, chicken terriyaki nuggets, chicken parm, I also really like to use the slow cooker -in there I have made chicken soup, pork tenderloin, turkey legs.

I make this dish the DH actually calls 'yummy chicken'...it's pretty much a take on chicken caccitore w/ chicken legs and thighs cooked w/ peppers, onions, mushrooms, and olives whatever kind of canned tomatoes we have on hand that day (stewed or diced or crushed) over rice...I think its the only 'original' recipe I have ever made that he asks for repeatedly..is that bad?!?!?!

ETA: and stir fry is a go to favorite 'cause its quick and easy

I wish I could help, but last night (DH's b-day) was the first time I actually cooked for him since we got married.

Before we were married on the other hand I cooked all the time. Mostly a variety of chicken dishes. One of his favorites is a honey mustard chicken.

usually, we'll have chicken cutlets once a week, pasta (with sauce) 2x a week, pasta with brocoli, garlic and oil, once a week. sometimes we'll do PASTARONI (SOOOO GOOD! and very quick to do) and side dishes).

my short list of go-to recipies are:

meatloaf... one gives you a lot of food, so i freeze it for sandwiches

chicken cutlets with rice

and that's it.

i've been working on increasing my list. i've recently added:

enchiladas

whole chicken in the crockpot

cuban-style ground beef (i subsitute turkey) it's great with rice, in empanadas, and in 'papas rellenas' *stuffed potatoes*..mmmmm

slit-pea soup

Re: your favorite dinner to cook

DH does most of the cooking. We got a grill that goes on top of the oven burners, we use it alot! Typically we make:

Tuna steaks
Salmon
Sausage and peppers
Grilled shrimp kebabs with mango, peppers, etc
Tiliapia
Big Salads (to use up leftovers)
DH makes an awesome ragu sauce with pork
Ravioli's
Tortellini
Skirt steaks

We are lucky to live in a great neighborhood with butchers and fish stores, lots of fresh options. When I do cook, I tend to use recipes from Cooking Light. We also order in/go out to eat 2-3 times a week.

DH is a huge fan of stuffed peppers - if you have leftover meatballs and sauce, you can sort of mash them together, add some white rice and stuff the mix into a hollowed out peper, bake at 375 for about 30-40 minutes.

I have so many...lets see

Italian Turkey Meatloaf
Beef stir fry
Linguini with garlic and oil
Turkey soft tacos
Chicken Fajitas
Chicken Marsala
I also love to bake chicken cutlets in the oven and what I do is brush on some BBQ sauce or honey mustard and then bread them and pop em in the oven
