Is it me or does...

light colored nail polish like ballet slippers (pinkish - white) tend to chip sooo much easier and sooner than darker colors? what can i do to prevent it? i've applied several top cots but it will even start to chip away at the base of the nail!
i can always go a week with darker colors (if not a few days more).. but with the lighter colors, i always find that i need a manicure w/i 4 or 5 days!

Re: Is it me or does...

I have on a light color now and I dont notice anything. I got my nails done 2 weeks ago and you cant tell i need a fill in.

Dark colors is usually the opposite. I usually have the chipping with the dark colors

ETS: though with light colors I do notice they fade and doesnt look as pretty as the day I got them. Dark colors seem to last and look vibrant for 2 sometimes 3 weeks

Re: Is it me or does...

when i would wear acrylic, i never had this problem and like you said.. it did seem to be the opposite! but now that i just go for regular manicures, this is what i find! plus the fact that it takes sooo much longer to dry regular nails...

Re: Is it me or does...

I always get light colors and I don't find it chips quickly. I don't have wraps or anything either. Maybe your manicurist is putting the polish on thick, that could be why. Orly sells something called 'Won't Chip', it does not smell pretty but it works pretty well I think, but then again I don't usually have a problem with chipping. Try it, it can't hurt.

Re: Is it me or does...

No matter what color I get, my polish chips in about 3 days. I hate it! I could get 2 manicures each week.

Re: Is it me or does...

I think lighter lasts longer for me
dark shows chips more but if you go to that promendade cosmetics place by sunrise mall they sell all the Essie colors
so I bought mademoiselle to keep in the house

Re: Is it me or does...

essie nail polish lacks lacquer which makes the polish stay.
OPI has a color called 'Sweet Heart' same as essie but has the lacquer in it.
Try putting a clear coat of polish on each night to help it stay

Re: Is it me or does...

I notice the opposite with me - dark colors chip within a day (I wash my hands a sickeningly amount of times) whereas lighter colors last a bit longer. I find when I put OPIs protective top coat on, I can get a good 5-7 days without chipping.
