04 Brides

Original post by nylisa

Just checking up on my fellow 04 Brides, wanting to see if any of us have done anything new and also just to say hi.

New things:
Brought my BMs each a BM hankie and a little BM book
Going to order 'Ring for a Kiss' bells
Found the dress that I want but I just need to go into the store and look at it

That is what has been going on with me.

WOW Marcela that is awesome!! If my gut said to not go with the BMW then I would have also gone with my gut. When I don't, something always happens.

Enjoy it Make sure to tell everyone that walks into it to throw coins on the backseat floor!

Thanks Girls!!! We're super excited!!
I love Nissan too. I have a 1994 Nissan Sentra (and will keep it because we need 2 cars) and I love it!! I have never had any problems with it and I've had it for 7 years. Fh's parents have a 2001 Pathfinder and FH's brother has a 1999 Maxima. So we're a Nissan family.

Jess: If you're going to look for a new car, you should definitely check Nissan out. They give you A LOT of car, for relatively inexpensive when you compare it to other companies.

Thanks Wanda. We really wanted the BMW, but it's a very long commitment considering the BMW truck is so expensive. So we're glad we didn't get it and are a lot more relaxed. FH and I haven't slept in days. Last night, finally we got a good night's sleep. We didn't want to start off a marriage with such a high bill. You never know what can happen.

Re: 04 Brides

Marcela I know how it feels to buy your FIRST brand new car. Especially without parents help. When I went to sign for mine, my dad was there to make sure everything was okay. I was a wreck! I don't even want to think about when we purchase our first home. I will definitely have to take a couple of mental days at work. Before AND after closing.

Fh's car is going caput very soon. Your car is at the top of the list for him! Enjoy it

Re: 04 Brides

LOL Wanda. We have been a total mess this week agonizing over the decision. But I'm glad that's over.
I will let you know how the car is in a few days! Nissans are always a good bet though. They last for sooo long!

Re: 04 Brides

FI and I are looking to get a new car probably next year when finances are a little better. I do not like fords in any way. I had a bad experience with a Ford and FI had a ford when I first met him and it was a money eater. We're looking at either nissan, oldsmobile, or pontiac. I like the maxima's though. We're not sure.

The only thing I dont like is the way cars these days are made. He has an early 80's car that I call a boat, but when I am behind the wheel I know that if i get into a car accident this tank of a car is going to keep me safe. Cars just arent made the same way anymore.

Re: 04 Brides

Melissa your funny! I used to call my dad's plymouth (my first hand me down car) the yellow banana boat! What possessed him to get a yellow car is beyond me. It was a clunker too but soooo roomy.
We had a Pontiac (second hand me down car) that I miss Sounds stupid but this was my college car. I still remember driving around with the girls, when we should have been in class

Re: 04 Brides

Brians car is so roomy and so much trunk space. Which maybe good and bad. I have taken over all his closets so he has no more closet space and he's worried I am going to take over the trunk.

The only problem we have with the car is when he drives the seat has to be all the way back because he is tall and when i drive I have to move it all the way up because i am short. After I drive he has to move the seat back before he can get in.

shhhh I also have a little trouble seeing over the dashboard so i have to sit straight up and with a little pillow underneath me. I feel like a 90 year old lady driving his car.

oooooooh my goodness i have the most funniest story.....i was crossing the street and i swear i saw this woman who had to be about 120 years old driving a car that had to be about 30 years old and with plastic on the seats. i was crying that i was laughing so hard. I thought only the couches had plastic on them.

Re: 04 Brides

LOL Melissa!!!
Melissa, FH also sits with the seat all the way back and then gets annoyed when I push it forward to drive. He complains everytime. That's why a car with programmable seat settings was a must for him

Re: 04 Brides

We are the opposite. I get annoyed when I sit in MY car and I have to move the seat up b/c FH has the seat sitting on top of the back seat! The drawbacks of being short!

Melissa I used to put a towel underneath my rear in another plymouth (3rd hand me down car). Thank goodness I have my own car now. Customized for little me

Re: 04 Brides

People dont understand how tough it is being short. I can't reach pass the second shelf in the kitchen cabinets over the sink, the bathroom mirror is too high for me so all i see is the top of my head, i have to sit on a pillow to drive, its really tough being short.

I posted this as a thread, but I had a talk with my dad and the money he receives from selling my grandmothers condo is going to be paying for my wedding and that this will be considered a gift from my grandparents. He also said he thinks in the will there may be funds set up set aside from what the money will be from selling the condo. He doesnt know what my grandmother and grandfather had set aside, but they did have stocks, bonds and CD's. This is information they will find out when they go January 11. So its very heartbreaking knowing that I am going to be losing my grandmother, but its comforting that in her death she is taking care of me and my future by having these funds set aside for me and that this will cover the costs of my wedding. Though she wont be with me physically she will be there in a way. I am her only granddaughter.

Re: 04 Brides

Do u think it is too soon too start getting florist quotes? I do not even know what flowers are in season in March. I also want to know what we need to shell out money wise, it seems like that is all we do!!!

Re: 04 Brides

Happy New Year everyone!

Princess - I'm booking my florist I think this Saturday. It's not too early to do it. I'm not picking out the flowers just yet, just putting a downpayment down and seeing what they have to offer.

What is everyone doing for new year's? My FI and I are going to a place w/friends for dinner where you catch your own fish and they cook it for you. I may have to cook dinner for myself when we get home! I can catch fish (I've been fishing when I was a kid) but I just for some reason can't eat something once I've seen it alive. i don't know, I'm weird I guess!

Anyways, have a great new year's everybody!!!
