Re: 04 Brides
Just wanted to bump us up to the first page and also I made lasagna for my FH for dinner tonight. It was my first time making something other than chicken cutlets. He LOVED it!! and my mom and dad loved it too..i really surprised myself. I think that I am going to start making a new dish every week.

Melissa: I am so sorry. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Angela: Congrats on cooking! Whats everyone doing for New Years? Questions about registering: Do you need appointments to register, or can you just go? Also, how many places can you register at? And thank you ladies for your comments about my mom!

Re: 04 Brides
Hi Lauren, you do not need appointments to register. You can even do it on-line now at most places. You can register at as many places as you want, but usually I think the most amount people do is 3 or 4 depending. It's good to pick items with a variety of price differences since everyone has a different budget. I did not put down dishes or silverware (I'll put those on closer to my shower I think) but alot of Lenox and giftware items. I put on also appliances, but not too many people got us that so far. See, the shopping questions I can answer, the cooking questions, ah, that's another story!!!
Angela, that's great on your cooking! We went shopping & I'm planning on making scallops & turkey burgers in the next few days - it's a start, right!!!

Re: 04 Brides
Hi ladies, things have been quiet this weekend. Brian and I went to PA yesterday for the day to see his mom. She gave us a sandwhich maker and some money for christmas.
Things with my grandmother are the same. She has been placed into the hospice and they are keeping her comfortable. At first I was praying that she would beat the odds and be around for my wedding next year, but all I am praying for now is that she isnt in pain. I dont want her suffering.
I am going to take a fellow LIWeddings lady advice and get to florida and do a non ceremoial wedding this way she can be apart of my wedding.
On a happy note, FI and I bought our first wedding item. We went to this candle outlet near his mom's and with the intentions of going for ideas as we are making our own centerpieces. 10 minutes in the store, and we had favors picked out (we didnt purchase them yet, but I think these are the favors we are going to go with) and we bought these small flowers that are in our colors to go around the tapper candles that the hall provides. When we have the centerpieces we want, we're going to take a picture of what it is to look like and give it to the hall as they provide us with the tapper candles and will set up our centerpieces.
So now I am just taking it easy

Let's see... the latest update is we booked the limos. The only big item is the dj and band. I would love to have a steel drum band at the cocktail hour if $$ allows it. Oh and I can't forget the centerpieces and flowers. I am hoping to do the feather centerpieces like Tarakinspa is doing but the bigger ones. That will be a mission and a half to do.

Hey Ladies, Just checking in. Me and my FH went to Harrows yesterday and bought so many things for christmas for our apartment. We spent only 180.00 for 700.00 worth of stuff. I love to decorate for christmas...that made my day. We got a village, buy one piece and get 3 free, (we got eight) they are the large size. How exciting

Licia which Harrows did you go to and how long is the sale for? My parents do a village too and would love to add more. That is a heck of a sale!

Re: 04 Brides
In response to the registering question, you don't need an appointment. We registered at Fortunoffs and got 10% off on our wedding bands. But we only put down a couple of things. We're going to complete our registry next year. You can also do it online which is great. We are also going to register at Crate and Barrell and Bloomingdales for our bedding.

I think there's a Harrow's on Sunrise Highway by Lynbrook/Valley Stream area.
This weekend is going to be vendor crazy for me. We have our florist appointment Saturday, and three band appointments. In between all that, we have a wedding to go to! Crazy, but hopefully fun!

Melissa: I'm soooo glad that you are going to visit your Grandma How did it go with your boss?
Wow everybody is busy shopping! And getting great deals. I should go start stocking up on some Xmas things too. Maybe I'll go this weekend.
So my update is that we got a CAR!!! Fh and I had a HORRIBLE experience with his Ford Mustang on Xmas in the snow. The car got stuck everywhere and FH had to push it with me driving for about a mile So on Thursday we began looking for a SUV. We decided to get the BMW X5 and were all excited about it. In the end however, we decided against such an expensive car, because it's a risky chance. FH could definitely afford to make the payments, but there are many 'what ifs' that convinced us that it was not the right time to make such a huge financial commitment. So we ended up getting a 2003 Nissan Maxima. The car has heated seats!! Which I love!!! And the best part is that FH is trading in his mustang, and paying off the rest. So no car payments Which is great, because we would have been paying form many years if we would've gotten the BMW. We're signing the papers today and we're picking up the car tomorrow. I'M SOO HAPPY!! I've never had a new car!!

Re: 04 Brides
Since I am working through the temp agency I have to talk to them first and I spoke to the HR person and she was really nice. I told her I am thinking of going a Friday night and returning Sunday and I may need to leave a little early on that Friday or not be able to come in. I also told her since this is my dad's side, they are jewish and I had to explain to her that when its time I need to go to FL and I'll be gone for at least 8 days (since the jewish people sit shiva for 7 days)
She told me not to worry and when that time comes we'll work it out.
