you girls are all ahead of us 08 girls but did any of you have to go to FOCCUS? what is it??? what do you have to do? do all catholic churched require it? i dont get it!!!

Not quite sure what FOCCUS is.....we had to attend pre-cana which we went to our 'lead couples' home for 5 weeks to discuss certain topics then end with a mass we all had to attend. The priest blessed us it was actually a really nice mass.

FOCCUS is this test they give you. It's supposed to pin-point the areas that you and your FH should discuss.
Not all churches require it. My church doesn't require it at all and doesn't feel the need for it. We just did a 1 day pre-cana and we were done!

FOCUS is a 'test' you take before entering into Pre-Cana....some churches require it (like mine) but it's not a big deal. It's question about you & FH, you take it seperately and then discuss your answers with eachother & the person in charge of FOCUS

its 2 sessions- 1st session is a SCANTRON test takes about 40 minutes. 2nd session can last 1-2 hours. depends on how much there is to 'work' on...
basically is like a compatibility test so you know what to strengthen before & during the marriage

The topics are religion, children, friends, family... nothing TOO personal, dont worry! its seriously no biggie! Our Foccus couple was a cute 50-60 something year old couple.

It's not THAT personal....it's about how do you feel about children? Have you and your FH talked about financial situations? Do you trust FH? things like that.
it's really not a big deal, I promise! Some of the questions are actually funny & FH & I got a kick out of laughing at our answers! He said I do things that annoy him sometimes lol

Each Church (parish) does Pre Cana a little different, some require that test you mentioned, which we had to take, it was so silly. Each church also has different hours and places, we did ours at the church three different evenings in total. Some go to peoples houses a few nights and others go for a weekend day and get it done with all at once, but again, it all depends on your Parish.

FOCCUS is this scan-tron test sort of thing they give you. It goes over different issues that you will have during your marriage. Holidays, children...etc. Then once you take it the church contacts you to set up a meeting, usually you will meet with someone on the outside that is part of the church to sit down and go over it. Its really not that bad! Its actually not that bad at all

it's not that bad...we just did it last month. they ask you questions that are almost like cono started,so if you disagree or don't have the preferred answer (by the church) you talk about those issues. it was fairly painless.
We just finished our pre-cana last week- and we had a great experience.
