its basically a wand with ribbons at the end of it, and when the couple is coming out of the church everyone waves them up in the air, this is an alternative to throwing rice, petals, seeds or whatever.

if you don't mind me asking, what religion are you? My friend went to a wedding where there was no alcohol, her friend who got married was a born again christian.

No hand ceremony I would of done a handfasting ceremony but fh was not into it... (i was pagan for six years back in jr high and hs.)
