1 day Pre Cana?

We just took our Foccus Test last night and received info for Pre-Cana... Since my church is in Manhattan, we're in the Archdiocese of New York. They only do the full two day (two Saturdays, 9am-4:30pm each), or the longer ones (like 4 evenings, Engaged Encounter, etc).

I've heard of the 1 day pre-cana and checked out the Archdiocese of Brooklyn since FH lives in Queens, but the shortest one there is also 2 days (but less time - 2 hours on a Friday and all day Saturday).

With my FH's work schedule it's hard to take time off on weekends so we'd prefer the one day. Did I maybe just misunderstand and there is no one-day, or does anyone know where it's offered?

The Foccus test is a compatability test with anywhere from 90-180 questions. It's multiple choice on a scantron type sheet (the 3 multiple choice options are 'agree', 'disagree' or 'uncertain'). He'll 'score' it for us and then next time we meet, we'll go over some areas that the priest has chosen for us to review based on our answers, and some areas that we've chosen to discuss.

The priest scheduled it during our first meeting together.

Wow - I have never heard of that test before, but it sounds nice. I would have loved to take it just to see how DH & I would have scored.

Anyway, DH & I did Pre-Cana in 1 day. It was a Saturday from 8:45am-4:30pm. We both live in Nassau County and took Pre-Cana at my Church (the Church we got married at).

FH and I live in Brooklyn and did our Pre-cana through the Diocese of Brooklyn. I do believe there is no one day pre-cana anymore, its now combined from a Friday night starting from 7:30pm-9:30pm (we got out at 8:45pm) and then again all day Saturday from 9am-5pm (we got out at 2pm).

That must be specific to the Diocese of Brooklyn only. I know for a fact that my church has a one-day program. They have several options -- some are a few days long, while others are 2. They definitely have a 1-day option also.

I do believe they have changed this for NY state, not just certain counties/archdioceses..etc. Its a two day session. I would check though just in case because we were told both with my parish which is a part of Rockville Center Diocese and FH's who is Brooklyn that its now 2 days which used to be just all day Saturday.

Hmmm, that's odd. My church has a one-day program scheduled for the spring...

Fh & I are going to a 1 day precana in January..
when do you take the FOCCUS test??? we have not done this yet?

forgot to include church - we are doing it at St Cyril's in Deer Park
