10/6 Wedding - Very Long

Well after a very tough year of my finding out I had an illness and fiance having been greatly effected on 9/11, we decided to go through with our wedding as planned. Glad we did because it was the BEST day of my life, never had so much FUN!!! Because we realized what REALLY matters, I was not nervous at all, and everything went better than expected (except for the cocktail hour explained below) but that didn`t even matter because it was made up for in all other aspects! I knew it was going to be a great day when the monsoon in the morning ended and the sun shone brightly just when the limo pulled up. Gown - Well I posted before, I did not have a good experience with the bridal couture of Manhassat. I LOVED how my dress, headpiece, and veil turned out, though. Could not have been happier with how I looked. Wish I bought elsewhere, though, to save a few headaches. Tux - After Zellar`s closed down on my fiance and did not have the nerve to even notify him, he went to Roger`s in Babylon. They were really nice and very helpful. Found out they were a little less expensive then Zellar`s too! Make-up/Hair - Jackie (I make up you) and her partner Margaret did a WONDERFUL job on me and my girl`s. Limo - Dynasty. Would not recommend them. Our driver was very pushy and basically threw us out of the car! It was so pathetic, we actually laughed about it. Photo/Video - Fine Art. Can`t wait to get proofs back. Frank was sooo nice and I think he did a really great job. Vanderbilt Museum - Highly recommend even though you have to pay a fee. Grounds are beautiful. Music - -Royal Brass (at church) - if there is one thing that 'made' my wedding it was the trumpeters. People were in awe, they look and sounded awsome! -Island Classical (at cocktail hour) - didn`t get to really hear them because of the fiasco I`ll mention below, but heard they were very good. -Spin Around Sound (reception) - Tom was Great! If they weren`t dancing, they were standing around the floor clapping! He kept everyone going ALL night. We had so much fun, especially thanks to the music! Flowers- My Secret Garden (Greenlawn). I could not find pictures anywhere of what I really wanted, but Jenice the owner of this small shop got it down to a tee just from my descriptions. The flowers were beyond breathtaking, very creative! Reception- Thatched Cottage. Well here is my only upset of the day, although, it didn`t last long. Reception was GREAT (food, service, etc.), however, I have to strongly recommend not to use them! They are supposedly a one wedding at a time place and I was told my cocktail hour would be downstairs/outdoors. Well when I got there the valet`s were going nuts because the 'other' party had not left yet. All my guests had to wait in the atrium and then were escorted to this room that I did not even know existed in the place. To say the least, I was very upset. I was told the party`s end time (in a downstairs room) was my begin time, so still it was one wedding at a time. But everyone knows most guests hang around a little while after! Although, I think most of my guests did not notice and the reception was great, I truly believe the Thatched Cottage took advantage of me and LIED to me when they verbally told me the week before how the cocktail tables would be arranged in the room I thought I was having it in. My opinion, stay away! Well I think that`s all. Any questions let me know. OH, 2 week honeymoon in Hawaii was WONDERFUL!

RE: Vanderbuilt Museum

Sounds like a great day, and I know what you mean about realizing what is most important. Congratulations! Question for you: Since I just moved my wedding date to December 22nd from May 4th, I'm at a loss for photography sites inside - I originally was going to go to planting fields. But I would like to find something indoors and kinda fun and interesting. Did you take pix inside the museum? What's it like?? Thanks so much!

Thanks All!!! Responses for Wilma & Sara

Thanks all for the Well wishes and good luck planning your own weddings! Wilma- I did not have a wedding planner. It got tough at times since I was planning from NJ, but in the end it all came together. Now that I look back, I`m sad I don`t have anything left to plan. It was fun. Sara-One of the reasons we booked the Vanderbilt museum is because we would be allowed to have the pictures inside if it rained. Take the tour one day to check it out and if you like it ask to speak to Carol (she arranges weddings, pictures, etc.) I will post on Hawaii later when I have a little more time. One thing that stinks about a 2 week honeymoon, is the amount of work to come back to...UGH!!!
