10 year reunion invite just came in

Well I just got my high school reunion info in yesterday and I just opened it. MAN this stinks i am old - sad thing fh got really upset because he is 7 years older then me. he thinks its dumb to go to the reunion since i had no 'real' friends in high school. honestly i got picked on a lot since i was the 'freak' and only had a handful of people i had talked to. I want to see some people who i can't seem to find anywhere. I wasn't allowed to go to my prom so i feel like this might be like it for me. ( the school banned me from prom since they though i would blow up the school in revenge for being suspended for missing class since someone put dead mice in my locker and smeared blood all over it and i was scared to show up that day)

I want to go but it is expensive at $109 per ticket but i don't want to do it alone. fh says he will go since its an open bar and dinner but hates the fact its so much money.

Fausha are you going? are you bringing hubby to be??

Anyway my point - did anyone go to their h.s. reunion? and i realize many of you are not even there yet - would you go to your reunion for that price?

WOW thats crazy, it feels like I graduated HS yesterday, hahaha. Mine is coming up soon too

I was a 'freak' in high school too, but damn, you got it bad! Sorry you went through all that. Too bad we weren't in school together-- we probably would have hung out!

I decided not to go to mine because even when I was in school, the people I hung around with never showed up anyway so I knew they wouldn't come to a school function 10 years later. I figured that if I haven't found them so far, I probably never will and that may be a good thing.

Plus, it was so much money! I heard from a few people who went and they said it totally s*ucked, so I'm happy with me decision not to go. After they had dinner, they had to get up so someone else could sit in their seats!! For over $100, I would expect not to play musical chairs.

lots of crazy stuff happened to me in H.S. i hold no ill will over it nor the people who did it to me (honestly they are a year to two years older then me) so they won't be there anyway. I just feel odd since i have no close people i know from H.S. and yet i really want to go to this thing.

but you do raise a good point d! its such a waste of money that could go to the wedding or our apartment. I have to think about this.... i have a month to rsvp.

that's awful, I'm sorry you had to go through that If you want to go, then go. If it's lame you can leave, I know it's a lot of $$ but if you don't go you might regret it

My 10 year is this summer - I don't know if I'm going yet - it's at my HS!!!!!!! Cheapos.

wow..um yea i didnt go to prom I hated High School...I knew alot of people..but didnt feel the connection. All of my friends didnt go either...

Instead we went to Puerto Rico!

I would never go....to my HS Reunion...lol

it sounds like you and i had very similar HS experiences.
My 10 year is still a few years away but I've already thought about how i'd feel going.
I think it depends on how confident I'm feeling at the time.
If i'm not feeling too hot..then i probobly wouldnt go because i'd be nervous the whole time.
BUT if it were tomorrow I'd go b/c I'm marrying a great man, and have a lot of 'exciting stuff' going on... even if i'm not in law school or med school like most of my 'friends' from back then.

do what is comfortable for you.

I'm sorry that happened to you People can be so cruel, it's ridiculous.

I have a while for my HS reunion - I'm not sure if I'll end up going. Part of me wants to and the other part doesn't. If you don't go though, you might regret it.

I am so sorry you had to go through that!

I'm only half way there until my 10 year, and as of right now I would go... but that's still 5 years away and I don't really know what will be going on in my life then! But I think I would spend the money to go now... and bring FH with me!

As was said before, I think that if you really want to go, then go! You only get one 10 year reunion... and you might regret it if you don't go since you seem to really want to...

i say if you want to go then do it, don't regret it later. Sorry they did that to you unfortunately some people never change so as long as you go in there knowing you won't let them effect you go ahead. Just go there have a great time, show how happy you are with your life and even if they say something-just laugh it off and ignore them, its better to show that their words or actions mean nothing to you.

I didnt go to my 5 yr reunion....after we all made a pact when we were seniors that we would(only few actually went)....doubt I will go to my 10 yr....who knows!

thanks people! just have to sit and think about it. I should pull out the pic of the prom pic i have - since i couldn't go to mine i took my best friend crystal to her prom (boces theater prom). I will post it later.. put it this way it was my dream wedding dress at the time IoI

Mines this year too, NOT going. I have 3 friends from high school and all of them are in my wedding party and they are the only ones I care to keep in touch with!! I was teased as well, (not as bad as you--thats aweful to read) and the high school is in a small nowhere town in the middle of the northern Wisconsin woods, I'm over it.
