10 year reunion invite just came in

Original post by nifheim

Well I just got my high school reunion info in yesterday and I just opened it. MAN this stinks i am old - sad thing fh got really upset because he is 7 years older then me. he thinks its dumb to go to the reunion since i had no 'real' friends in high school. honestly i got picked on a lot since i was the 'freak' and only had a handful of people i had talked to. I want to see some people who i can't seem to find anywhere. I wasn't allowed to go to my prom so i feel like this might be like it for me. ( the school banned me from prom since they though i would blow up the school in revenge for being suspended for missing class since someone put dead mice in my locker and smeared blood all over it and i was scared to show up that day)

I want to go but it is expensive at $109 per ticket but i don't want to do it alone. fh says he will go since its an open bar and dinner but hates the fact its so much money.

Fausha are you going? are you bringing hubby to be??

Anyway my point - did anyone go to their h.s. reunion? and i realize many of you are not even there yet - would you go to your reunion for that price?

Wow that is crazy.
I didn't just go to my 10 year reunion from Beach Channel HS in 2004 but I helped organize it with 3 of my high school friends (me and one of them were co-editors of our yearbook). I think we only charged $50 per person- we were trying to keep the cost low so more would attend and we also managed to have it at a nice place (the Beach Club in Rockaway Beach, Queens- not far from our HS) and also have good food and open bar (top shelf stuff).
It was really nice and we all had a great time, people appreciated it not costing so much also.

i was so unpopular and unhappy in high school so i would definitely NOT want to go...i already told FH i refuse to.

but if you really feel like you want to go, then maybe you should spend the money and do it.

but i don't think it will make you feel better that you couldn't go to your prom...so if that's the only reason you want to do it, i would think about it a little more if i were you before making a decision.

good luck and if you go, have fun and rock the house!

Kids can be vicious. I'm actually reading a memoir right now about a girl who was bullied, teased and tortured through her school years. It's called Please Stop Laughing At Me' by Jodee Blanco. I missed mine do to a work trip, but my 15yr reunion is coming up next year and I plan on going to that. I went to an All Girls H.S., so I'll probably go alone, since they are doing a wine/cheese at the school for just the girls.

OKay, since you went to SVF, do they still have the reunions? The 5 year reunion would've been last year, but we heard the school wasn't organizing it anymore. Or does it start at 10 years?

you should go...

i had mine in 2003 (our *11* year reunion b/c the people organizing it couldnt get their S**T together) and i LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED it b/c I am such a more confident person now... It was VERY entertaining to me...

plus, i made up a LOT of lies... just to entertain myself further.

try it, you might like it!!!

For those who want to go back in the way back machine.. this is me in 1998 ( a year after graduation from hs in 1997) this is what i wore to school minus the black veil and the crinoline slip... so i dressed it up to take my best friend crystal to her prom since i couldn't go to mine. Thus this fine photograph

I didn't go. It was $120 a person. I just feel that I see who I want from high school and didn't want to be bothered making small talk with people I haven't cared to talk to in 10 years.

TOTALLY GO TO IT!!!

MIne was 3 years ago and I (Along with most of my friends) felt that for 200 a couple we could go out drinking somewhere and have a blast on our own....so we skipped it. Some of my other friends went and they had a good time seeing people that they hadnt seen. I totally regret not going....

BTW- my sister got her's too yesterday- She graduated Lindy with you.

if i go, im sure none of my friends would end up going and i would end up sitting all by myself, how embarrasssing. Reunions seems like a show-off festival to me, how many times will you have to say, 'Nice to see you? What are you up to? I graduated from---with a degree in---, I work at---, live at---, got married at---,bought a house(hopefully maybe by then)......I wish i could just paste it all on my forehead and get it all out of the way.........Sorry i am being so pessimistic, seriously though, i would go if i knew there would be people i wanted to see and especially if i cared to rub my success in some people faces!

your class will organize it, or you can contact Debra DiRico in the alumni office. I stopped getting 'The Green Door' newsletter. Do you still get it?

if you want to go, then go...

i didn't go to mine, i didn't enjoy high school, and the one or two people i did like, i still talk to! everyone else can go scratch... but i guess the curiosity gets to me sometimes, just to see how everyone ended up.
