10/08 Brides, centerpieces, BM gifts, stupid questions, etc.....

Hey all!!! I'm an October 11, 2008 bride to be and am getting married in Bklyn.
So what kind of centerpieces is anyone doing for their October wedding? Anyone doing a 'fallish' theme? I am tossing the idea around about making my own and NOT having the florist do them. I keep feeling like if someone is going to take it home at the end of the night, I would rather whatever it is, not die in a week!
I am also in the middle of getting my girls their BM gifts. I have 6 in my party ages 16, 21, 25, 33, 44 and 50. I am thinking of giving small Coach bags and filling them with personal items like Tweezerman tweezers, Demeter cologne (go to Demeter.com and see what I'm talking about. *****This is more of a 'fun' part of their gifts****They have the most original kinds of perfumes), clear ailpolish, a compact mirror, and maybe a silver pendant with their initial in script (like Elsa Peretti from Tiffany's). What else can I throw in???
Now for the stupid questions!!!!!!!!!!!!
I keep seeing people mentioning an aisle runner. Do I need that? Doesn't the church provide me one?
Who do I give my 'potential' shower guest list to? Can I email the whole party so the MOH doesn't feel like she is the only one responsible or is that ballsy??
Did everyone get a food tasting for their halls?

Hello! I am doing something 'fally' with my flowers. I'm havin roses, gerber daisies and a few others, but all in reds, oranges, yellows and some blue. and they are all going in terracotta pots. i thought it was so different and rustic looking. good luck making them on your own!

you're idea for the BM is very nice. i gave them a few little things when I asked them and i'm also giving them a necklace and earrings for the day and was thinking of paying for hair and/or makeup as well.

as far as your shower list, i gave it to my mom and sister (MOH). i guess you have to decide who you think is 'throwing' you the shower and give it to them. I would think your mom and/or MOH is probably the best bet.

i would ask your church, but i'm sure they provide it. most people talking about aisle runners are talking about personalized ones that have their monogram, names and/or date on them. that's up to you if you want to get something like that.

and everyone should go for a food tasting. i haven't yet, but plan on calling soon to find a date that FH and our families can go.

no stupid questions! HTH good luck!!

Q} So what kind of centerpieces is anyone doing for their October wedding? Anyone doing a 'fallish' theme?

A}I am sticking to fall colors but I am avoiding the whole 'fall' theme. We purchased our own crystal bowls and a 6 inch ivory candle and our florist is adding a few gerbera daisies in deep burgandy and burnt orange.

Q} I keep seeing people mentioning an aisle runner. Do I need that? Doesn't the church provide me one?

A} Some churches do not allow aisle runners, you should check! It is only a personal preference to have one, it is not a necessity.

Q} Who do I give my 'potential' shower guest list to?

A} You should give it to everyone in your bridal party as they are the most likely to throw the shower. Be sure to have them keep in close contact wioth family members who will feel left out otherwise.

Q} food tasting?

A} We got a food tasting, but not every reception hall offers them. Call in advance and ask. If it is important for you to sample the food you should rely on it, especially if you have never dined at their facility.

Congrats Date Twin!!

As far as centerpieces go, I'm alternating high and low. The lows will be set in pumpkins and the highs will be in glass vases with submerged red orchids. The flowers that we chose are sunflowers, calla lilies - mango, red hydrangea, black magic and orange roses with willow coming out of the center. It's hard to invision but I'm in love with them!

Aisle Runner - Your limo company will usually provide this. My church won't allow it though!

Tasting - My RH gave us a tasting but not all of them do.

Happy Planning!!

Hey Oct 08 here!

I'm not doing a fall theme at all. I'm going with navy blue and ivory with some gold accents.

We probably will have candelabras with some low bouquets on our tables

I'm not doing a fall theme. My colors are burgundy so far. As for centerpieces I'm leaning towards tall. But may go tall and short.
