103005FallBride!!! Lori, I bow to you!

Original post by SomethingBlu

Sweet, sweet Lori...pride is not something I hold dear to (and try not to possess because it's right up there with envy and intolerance as my all time worst traits in humans!) so I have to tell you...you rock!!

Why?

Because last night I was so tired and didn't want to cook. So my DH asked for his fave breakfast meal (yes, for dinner! ) fried eggs and steak fries. Now, I told him I don't have non-stick plans and frying eggs has been disastrous in our house with the new pots. But he made this face and so I had to...

I went into my pantry, said a prayer () grabbed the Mazola non-stick butter spray, sprayed my pan and set the fire on low so low I had to stand there watching the darn thing. But guess what? The eggs just slid off! Completely and utterly!

Yes, it takes much longer than 'traditionally' with oil or butter on medium-high heat & a non-stick pan...but they truly and really slide off! So much so that I lost 2 eggs because they were so 'smooth' that the yolk broke when I was turning (I got the hang of it though! ).

So, thank you for your tip...I told you I was learning from your post and you thought I was being facetious!

How did you know that's what I was thinking?

How much longer did the eggs take. I have to admit-I'm all about instant gratification. Also, were the eggs any better in the stainless pan? Is it worth the wait.

'Cause I know you Susan!

OMG I feel like an egg expert now! They took about twice as long...you have to start with a cold pan (because you're using non-stick spray) and since the fire is on low the first egg takes a bit since you have to wait for it to cook before flipping...I say it took about 2 minutes per egg...much longer than with oil since that's just drop, roll and go...but yes, the taste is much better! They actually taste like the ones at IHOP or a diner...very light, soft yolk, fluffy whites! YUM!

OK, I'm getting hungry!

Start with a cold pan? Duh!!!! So many stainless pans have sacrificed their lives for my ignorance..I feel so bad
