Should I take Ambien to sleep on the plane? I have heard some horror stories about this...let me know your experience with ambien.

There was a story on the news this morning about Ambien takers who are sleep eating... they get up out of bed and binge and don't even know it.

I saw that story.Its pretty strange. Ambien has been around for many years. I would feel confident taking it. Ask your physician just to be sure its not going to interact with any other medications you may be on. I sound like a commercial

Benadryl makes me fall asleep .... safe, you could use that.

I'm going to try not to take anything but we'll have tylenol pm with us. I've taken that before, so I know i'm okay w/ that!

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE AMBIEN. I am one of the horror stories. Like my doctor said there are better sleep medications than ambien. Ambien has caused me so much trouble. There is alot of sleepwalking with ambien. I crashed my car a few times b/c of it, and yes, you can be arrested if you get caught under the influence of ambien and driving. There are hundreds of message boards describing all the horror stories. Plus, you can black out and not remember a thing. Not a good way to start a honeymoon.

Whatever you take, make sure you take it at least once before this trip to see how you react on it and after it.

My doctor put me on ambien over a month ago because I wasnt getting any sleep and it has worked great for me, no side effects.
I also know quite a few other people who take it and they have no issues, but I guess it just totally depends on the person so you should definitely check with your doctor and maybe do a 'trial run' with it.

Xanex is for anxiety. I used to suffer from extreme anxiety and it would magnify when I flew. I had a prescription for a different anti-anxiety med. It would knock me out on the plane and I would sleep from take off to landing (which was great!!!). But the downside is that when you wake up, you are extreamly groggy and just plain out of it. It used to take me a long time to recover afterwards. And that was only on half a pill!!!

There was a report on Ambien about 2 nights ago on the news. They were saying it tends to make people sleep walk and sleep drive...you have to be VERY careful with this drug because it can be very dangerous.

Now Zanax on the other hand will do the trick

Three weeks ago I went to the doctor because I am having trouble sleeping. He diagnosed me with insomnia (yeah right - its just stress). He prescribed me ambiem and I filled the prescription. I am so afraid of getting addicted to anything, I decided not to take it. My first full night of sleep was just three days ago and no drugs.

I once went to Africa and was afraid of the long flight. I called my doctor and he gave me a sedative. I was relaxed and slept most of the time and didn't get addictive.

I am also going to Tahiti. I will probably take a sedative because I smoke. Smokers know what I mean!

I agree, Xanax will do the trick; however it also is addicting.

My FH and I just planned on taking a Nyquil gelcap. Here's why - We are very close to our next door neighbor who lives alone. We were both sick and each took a nyquil gelcap at like 9pm. It was a windy night w/freezing rain. At 11pm our neighbor came over and was knocking on our door because her doors to her house were all frozen shut. Apparently she was knocking for AN HOUR on our doors AND windows to our bedroom!! My FH got up, turned on the lights, got dresses and went to help her... I didn't even KNOW about it until the next day when he told me!! They totally knocked us BOTH out!

What!?!? That's crazy...can you imagine?!?! You bake a cake one night, and the next morning it's gone...weird! I wonder what causes that.

I saw this one the news also. I think it was on Ch. 4 (Matt and Katie) this morning.
