15 months for a bridal dress to come in? UPDATE: I CALLED

Does this sound right or a bit extreme?

I ordered my wedding dress March 2006 and I just called to find out if it was in yet (mind you I still have pleanty of time so I'm not panicked). The woman checked the order status and said it's not due to come in until June!!!

15 months for a wedding dress to come in? The woman said it was normal for this desiner (Demetrios). What do you guys think?

UPDATE:

So I called Macy's again and asked why there was such a hold up. They said they put down that my wedding was August 25 and that they don't have the room in their facility to hold dresses for very long. So the warehouse will ship the dress to them about 2 months before the 'wear date' and that's why it won't be in this Macy's until June. Phew!!!

NOT normal - they probably waited to order it since you ordered so far in advance.

They probably put your order in late so they wouldn't have too long of a period because that is crazy.

I got my dress in 2 months, if that long. And mine is Demetrios.

they probably put off making your dress since it was ordered so far in advance. Getting it 4 months in advance is still more than enough time though

Funny because I called my bridal salon last month to find out about my Amsale dress that I also ordered in march of 2006 and I was told late May early June. CRAZY!!!

I Believe that is totally unsual. I feel that the reason its taking that long because your wedding date is in october. Some brides usually give in a sooner wedding date, so that they can get their dress sooner.

This is where I got mine from as well

I am sure you will get it way before then. They told me 10 months and I got it in 6. I would not worry

ETA:
Do you guys think I should call Macy's back to find out what happened or just let it go b/c it will be here with enough time to spare?

I would definitely call. I hope you didn't leave a very high deposit..

Re: 15 months for a bridal dress to come in? ADDED QUESTION

I have NEVER heard of a dress taking that long. Although, the reality is (I learned this from a dress shop) that whatever your wedding date is,,,,they work with it. If you tell them your getting married in May, they get it as close to that date as they can. In reality, if you were getting married in 7 weeks, they could get it for you. Its all about when you tell them your wedding is. If you're not getting married for 15 months, and you order a dress and put your deposit down....they'll take their sweet old time.

Re: 15 months for a bridal dress to come in? ADDED QUESTION

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling they place the order late on purpose if you have a long time before your wedding. When I went looking, I got the feeling that some places don't like to have the dress in the store too early. My dress supposedly takes 6 months to come in (that would be May), but the woman said something about getting it in the store 3 months before the wedding (that's not until August).

In your case, it is an awfully long time. I wouldn't worry, but you might call for an explanation.
