Re: 1st church appointment
LOL Funny story(this was in Maryland)..... My friend & her fh went and they seperated them to ask questions. So the priest asked the fh if they had sex & he tells the priest NO, then when the priest asks her she says YES. LOL Well they didnt end up getting married at that church but it was so funny hearing them tell that story.
I was so scared when FH & I went for the first time to meet with the church but they didnt seperate us or ask any personal ?'s like that.
Wait no...Actually they did seperate us!!!! And I was sooo nervous they were going to ask us ?'s like that but they didnt- but we def were seperated!

Re: 1st church appointment
This is your first time meeting with a priest? You'll probably have to fill out a 'permission slip' to get married since your FH isn't catholic. That's what we had to do. But other than that, the priest will just ask the standard questions......how did you meet; have you ever been married before; are you both doing this wilingly; etc.

was it a big deal that he wasn't catholic? Did they make him swear to do anything like raise the kids Catholic? Thanks!

Re: 1st church appointment
Our first meeting was...interesting...the priest is kinda off and it felt more like an interrogation. We weren't too happy but we really didn't have a choice.

Re: 1st church appointment
Don't be nervous. I was nervous too b/c I'm not Catholic and FH is, but the Deacon was really cool and laid back. I just needed to give them proof that I was baptized and my dad wrote a letter validating it and that's pretty much it. Good luck.

Re: 1st church appointment
We had ours a few weeks ago. We are getting married in a Greek Orthodox church since that's what I am (FH is Catholic). We had to bring our baptismal certificates, the priest asked how long we've been together (3 yrs), how long we've known each other (11 years), do we live together (umm we said NO), and that we must raise the kids Greek Orthodox if we want to get married there (umm ok). Oh yea, I had to pay $300 to become a member of that particular church and FH had to give a $300 donation since he cannot become a member. Our koumbara had to pay $300 too.
