1st Fitting tomorrow... what do I need to know?

1st Fitting tomorrow... what do I need to know?

Okay, so my first fitting is tomorrow and I think I have everything:

Slip
Corset
Shoes
Tiara
Veil
Jewelry

Did you have to put more $$$ down? Is there anything I need to watch out for, be aware of? Things I should do or say? When I tried the gown on when it first came in, I felt it really didn't need much altering... I don't even think I'll need a hem, just have it taken in at the waist a little... but there are other things I am altering....anything I should know or be aware of?

Thanks!

I'd suggest not have your jewerly on when you put the dress on to avoid snags.

Make sure they pin from the waist. I wanted that and she went straight to my hem. I had to ask her 'Uhm, can we have it taken up from the waist' you think this would be obvious but I guess not.

I had to pay the balance on my first fitting call and find out.

Don't be shy - say exactly how you feel about whatever change she makes. Remember your slip will fill out more after being property starched and such (assuming it isn't) and your dress will probably be a bit more fluffy later, bu tnot much.

My final payment is due at the first fitting. I'm sure it depends on the salon. Check your contract before you go (or call them if you can't tell).

Also- try to bring someone with you. I'm bringing my mother with her hawk eyes. She noticed a thread that needed to be sewn in at the dress visit. (My dress has lace and pearls attached.) I want her to check the whole thing out so the seamstress gets everything. It'd hard to see the whole dress while your wearing it.

Have fun.

How can the final payment be due at the first fitting? Do they automatically charge the cap amount for alterations?
I didn't have to put the balance down...BUT like you might remember from my experience last week, i didn't realize how much a bustle costs! Yes they charge about 91 dollars for the standard bustle but if you want something else you may have to pay more.
Put your shoes on before your dress...Something stupid i did not do!

AND TAKE PICS....I WANNA SEE!!!!

Okaaaayy.... but I can't promise you that I'll have the guts to post them! Did you have to pay for the bustle at the first fitting?

they added my alterations and bustle (plus i bought my slip and bra that day) and i paid half of that! They are not specific on any of the remaining payments either. I can wait till the next or even last BUT the last payment must be in cash, regardless of the amount. So needless to say the majority of the balance i will pay at the next fitting.
